Mardi Gras is the dumbest, trashiest garbage.

I see nothing remotely fun or interesting about fighting crowds of people for plastic beads that will be thrown away as soon as the parade is done.

i get being part of something very enormous and bigger than yourself

i get the need to try to feel you don't have a drinking problem if you can come up with bullshite reasons to drink all the time (and then spin it as some generic thing like "culture")

but trying to make mardi gras into something bigger than what it is always gets me. the sad part is the people who fight teh most for it are the running joke of the people who benefit from mardi gras the most (the glassmans, er, men, of the world)
