You can’t be the “king of New Orleans” and hate Mardi Gras. Sorry.

New Orleans is the economic engine that pulls Louisiana. Without New Orleans we are Mississippi. New Orleans has SCHOOLS older than the USA. Some of you people are no culture Hix and should be living in Des Moines Iowa. You just have no idea about history and architecture and the real quality of life, which is NOT home owner associations in the burbs. Just stay away and attend your meetings.

I used to really enjoy it when we could round trip from LSU and just get too drunk to know what was going on.

As an adult, it is just entirely too much cash and hassle to deal with lodging and logistics to be worthwhile. Throw in all of the drunk frickheads and culture and it can become a miserable experience pretty quickly.

King of Nola probably went to Mardi Gras as in...he was a server during the Mardi Gras season once.

Yes that sucks especially if you live in NOLA and have to go through a parade route just to deal with drunks worse than me all day.

If you actually have a friend or family that lives on the parade route in uptown it is actually a lot of fun. You can take breaks from people and you don't have to pee in the street like an animal.

In addition depending on your age you can pick up girls if you are single...or guys if that is more your style. People come in from all over. Last time I went to a parade single I hooked up with a college girl from out of town and didn't get an STI. It was very classy.

This can only be done during Mardi Gras?

True but it's usually harder to find people that will drink with you at 9AM on a random Saturday without judging you.

I'm right there with you. As a young adult I had some fun with it but now I would much rather sit home than go anywhere near a parade.

OP sounds like a no fun having whiner, but the nola or die people are just as bad. Gotta get that happy medium in your life, baw.
Mardi Gras is a hassle, but when you hear the first drumbeats and brass coming down that street, something just clicks in your brain and its all worth it.

Guess its not for everybody.

And for the nolaphiles who feel like they have to bash the rest of Louisiana, actually learn your history bc the rest of the state has plenty. You prove you're as ignorant and culture ignorant as you accuse the "hix" of being.

Now i'll stop wasting time on this the OT and go enjoy some Endymion

I think it's fun but I don't go much anymore. I don't really like large crowds. And get off of my lawn
