It never fails, you have people give any criticism towards NOLA and people come out of the woodwork with either threatening people or showing how snobby and stuck up they are.
It took two years of living there and many more years of working there to avoid Mardi Gras weekend. There are two types that kill it for me: the idiot tourists who think its free reign to be projectile vomiting drunk even in uptown and the hardcore "MARDI GRAS BRUH" people who moved to NOLA in the past several years and act like they've been there forever.

Like I’ve been predicting all week, NOLA and Endymion is getting poored on right now. Lightening, thunder and heavy rain.

You'll find no sympathy from me. Last time I saw Endymion a few years back it was a clusterfrick. Unless you camped out there two days prior and staked your claim along with bringing your own porta-john, it's really not that enjoyable.

I didn't go this year and last. This year -- weather. The kids won't stand out on the rain. Well, the kids would...I wont.

Don't get me wrong. You can have fun at a parade. Olympia which runs in Covington is fun. Spanish Town can be fun if you don't have the kids. Hell, even the Strawberry Festival Parade which I've attended since moving to Ponchatoula nearly a decade ago is fun. There are a few NOLA parades that are fun. However with the big ones that roll this weekend have been progressively worse in my opinion. Why? Tourists, hipsters that moved to NOLA in the past several years, and people who charge you nearly $30 to take a piss.

I don't disagree with what you've said and it kinda sums up the part about Mardi Gras I don't really get?? I wasn't raised in a family that took part or was involved in of the 'society' clubs or groups. To me, it is so unbelievably pretentious and arrogant that I wouldn't want to be involved even if I was 'allowed'. Now, I know many of you will laugh and say that I'm just jealous. Maybe you're right but I sure don't think that's the case. Sure, I'd like to be rich but not so I could be considered a blue blood of the elite society of blah blah blah. Glassman seems like a nice guy and all and I'm sure he's lived a much more privileged and exciting life than me or my family members, but I honestly don't want to be a part of tiered 'society' that thinks I'm better than this family or we're better than that family or feel like our family would be dishonored if our daughter married beneath us because her husband-to-be wasn't an elitist like ourselves. It all just seems so condescending and superficial. It's why I never wanted to be part of the Greek system while going to LSU. It seems that to many, Mardi Gras is the culmination and celebration of all that shite that means so little to me.
