re: Opinions on Tipitinas

My first Tiptitina’s show started at 3:30 am on April 25 2008. The Disco Biscuits late night Jazz Fest. Walked out of the venue around 7.30 am. Show was hot. Mind = blown...Big night.

The easiest way (by far) for a venue to get a quick thumbs up from me is a giant water cooler and plastic cups.

IF you Have to Ask jam was fricking incredible... whole show overall was fantastic. About as good as a festival set can be, a bit different than that Voodoo 06 show with the sick Meters sit in for the Handclapping Song. I'd been looking forward to seeing Frusicante again since that night and he did not disappoint.

Also briefly met Chad Smith walking into the Fillmore late Saturday night following Ween for Dumpstaphunk/remaining Meters... pretty cool dude

Big facts

If Revolution in Ft Lauderdale Dec 2019 felt like a swashbuckling pirate ship swaying into the night then
The CAPTIOL THEATRE felt like a spaceship taking off into a cheesesteak galaxy... inverted Bullets

As phenomenal as Pet Sounds is it truly blows my mind just how incredible the 3 and a half minute "pocket symphony" of "Good Vibrations" .. I never am sick of it and always seem to discover another component of it upon listening. Music may equal, but never surpass this.

This deal is positively 4th street

As a result, Baton Rouge consistently punches well above its weight class as far as producing original music. The scene here for rock is arguably superior to much larger markets like Denver, Phoenix, Tampa, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Milwaukee, etc

Daft Punk for me. Coulda shoulda woulda for their Alive 2007 tour, specifically their Vegoose set.
