My weedeater took a dump on me and I need to buy a new one. I saw the new brushless ones and they seem interesting, not having to deal with mixing gas and the issues caused by ethanol. I could go on a 2 week rant about ethanol, I hate that shite.
Anyway, just looking for some feedback on the electric trimmers. Are they any good, or should I stick with gas?

I bought an electric black and decker about five years ago and I'm glad I did.

I have an electric Ryobi that works extremely well. It has a ton of power. I’ve had it going on 3 years. I also have the lawnmower and cordless blower. All 3 came with an interchangeable battery. The mower has a slot for 2 batteries so I can use one for the blower/edger if the main one dies. I’d never go back to a gas powered. Seems like such a hassle now. Just my .02.

I just use TruFuel. No mixing and no ethanol. It could get expensive if you have a ton of weedeating though.

Just for regular yard work, they’re completely adequate. They’re not as powerful as gas but for routine lawn maintenance you don’t need a powerful gas weed eater. The battery-powered weed eaters work just fine and I love the convenience and ease of use.

Seems the general consensus is positive, I appreciate the feedback. I'll probably grab on in the morning.

I have an 80 Volt battery powered Kobalt trimmer, lighter than gas powered and works just as good, if not better. I liked it so much I went and brought the push mower to mow where my riding mower can't. I don't miss the gas powered trimmer and mower at all.

I have a cheap Ryobi as well. I recommend buying an extra battery pack/charger based on your yard size. The spool is incredibly easy to change out, much easier than the shitty gas one my dad made me use as a kid

I switched my crappy gas powered stuff over to electric over the last couple years.

It all (Ryobi tools + Kobalt mower) works as well as the crappy gas stuff I used to have. (The mower is actually better.)

It works as well, if not better and you don't have to deal with gas.

I just bought an Ego weed eater. It’s pretty good and quiet. The string that comes with it kinda sucks, but I like it so far.

I have almost six acres, so I bought a Stihl. They have what they call a kombi system or something, which allows for multiple attachments....weed eater, pole saw, etc. Mostly I just use poison for weeds now though

Stihl cordless is shite. I’t’s like a toy. A very expensive toy. They give the rest of the cordless OPE a bad name.

The EGO 56v is the best electric weed eater you can buy.

I'll probably opt for the Snapper XD 82v though just so I can re-use the batteries for their mower and because it supports standard attachments.

edit: i currently own the B&D 36v and the Greenworks 40v. The greenworks always has problems with the string feeder. The B&D is actually really good and easy to handle. The only negative is that the string is thin.

Electric battery trimmers have been around for ages. It's nothing new and they work the sane as the gas trimmers.
