Anybody used the kiosk at lowes to get an extra Fob made?

Price is great (about $109)… but the key guy at costco said youd still have to take it to a locksmith to get it programmed. The costco guy’s price was $360 so not sure if he was lying to get the business.

Yes it still has to get programmed. Dealership wants $400 to program an extra fob for my wife's car.

$350 is a good price. Paid $400 for a Toyota Corolla fob and programmed 12 years ago from Team Toyota.
I get it but I don’t think the Costco employee wants more business. There is a chart of services provided above the service desk. Just saying. I normally don’t trust repairmen either. But Costco is legit.

Oh yeah im all for costco quality but He was in the orange key van in the costco parkin lot. Not really associated with costco. Only there for 2 weeks.

Sounds good. Good luck. I know it’s sucks. A valet at a hotel downtown lost my keys once. They paid but I had to go get the fob and get it programmed.

A couple of months ago I bought one at Menards for a 2011 Honda Ridgeline. Total cost was $118. The key came in the mail with directions for programming along with something you plugged into the diagnostic testing port. It had all of the instructions needed. Now I'm the guy that can't get anything right the first time and had to call the help line, but they were great. Had me up and going in minutes.
I'd use it again in a heartbeat.

I feel like every metro has an ultra reliable mobile fob guy who'll do it for 100+ less than the dealer. I've used a few over the years with zero issues. Just investigate and there is probably some guy with 200 google reviews you can feel confident in.

From personal experience you have to get a registered locksmith to do a Toyota but Ford you can do yourself (see youtube). I do not know about the other companies. I am sure google can help you.

Call Tiger Locksmith (if you are in the BR area). When I bought my kid’s car, it only came with 1 key fab. Since their key machine was broken, the dealership recommended them to me. We haven’t had a problem with the one Tiger Locksmith made. Plus, it was cheaper than what the dealership was going to charge me.

I wish we would go back to actual keys and you could get a duplicate for $2. Same for knobs on the dash instead of touchscreens.

Look up Tom’s keys. I rented a programmer from them. I bought keys from Amazon, had them cut, then programmed myself. I think it ended up costing $60 a key total.

The guy that was lately on Financial Audit was not a Costco employee, but sold in Costco lots (pretty sure it's the same company). But the franchisees of the company are taking advantage of the ball washing this board does for Costco.
