Golden doodles are so nutty

Years ago, there was a couple that we would play cards with. They had a old, toothless Giant poodle. When the Fourth came, we had the usual fireworks think going on. But we had to be very careful around that dog. It would go charging at any fireworks. Probably why it was toothless. Wasn't from lack of care. Those people had the screw it type money.

When the poodle died they got a havenese. Never heard of that dog breed. They flew from Texas to New York to get it. To each their own I guess. Great people though.

Our sweet old golden retriever of 13 years is scared of storms. Pooped in the house last night. Goes up the stairs and hides ina corner, etc. She was a rescue dog as a pup, shelter folks found her under a house, so that probably has something to do with it.

I have a Garfield looking fat cat that is terrified of storms. He’s been hiding under the guest bedroom couch all day.

We have a rescue. He can care less about the weather. While he’s quirky on other things and still barks at me everyday, he sleeps through every storm.

Wrap their body in an elastic bandage and then pull a tight t-shirt over them ... the compression has a calming effect.

Yeah we have a big hound who trembles at the slightest bit of thunder. Got him on doggie Prozac and thankfully he runs to his kennel to wait out storms. We adopted him and it’s clear he was abused prior to us getting him. Super sweet dude but it sucks how scared he gets by sounds, especially rain and thunder.

Yes. He's 84 lbs. He buries himself in my closet. Fireworks are worse.

I grew up around a lot of dogs. I don't remember any of them shitting themselves or bleeding over a fricking thunderstorm. Ever. Sounds like these freaked-out dogs are conditioned to have such fears.

My smaller, older dog doesn’t pay any attention. The big one, a male, gets frightened and wants to be close to you .

Boykin spaniel who duck hunts and let's you shoot a shotgun 6" from her is scared of anything related to rain. Smell of rain and she starts shaking. Tries to climb on you the whole time. Husky/shepherd mix is opposite. Couldn't care less about the rain but deathly afraid of guns and the vaccuum cleaner. Go figure.

Yes. We give her canine placidil and she goes to sleep. Fine the next day.

Our sweet little pound mutt is scared of storms and fireworks. She has to be by our side through it and for the next 2-3 hours after.

Our Golden Retriever is oblivious to it all. But then, she’s the same dumbass that is entertained by shiny things and shadows for hours at a time. She does not chase a ball. She chases the ball’s shadow. She does not chase birds. She chases their shadows. I have watched her turn her back to the sun and be entertained by the shadow of her tail wagging for more than an hour. Dumbest dog I’ve ever seen.

My mutt hates storms and fireworks. Then just to round it out she hates power outages. Guess that is too quiet.

One dog is. Literally scarred the shite and blood out of her. Usually one storm she shakes and I just pat her. But this was back to back to back to back. Back to the fourth square for you math nerds. My other dog is a German shepherd. She goes out and plays in it. That dog isn't scared of anything. But if you dry mop or dust, it attacks the lower part.

The scared dog is a pit. I know I know. I should have let them put her down. I didn't choose the dog. But everyone at the vet loved her. She was just going person to person wanting to be pet. The Sheppard hates anyone with a mask on. Exp. Halloween mask. She's fine when you take it off.

So if I ever have masked robbers break in my house, I am covered with the Sheppard. The pit would just hide in the closet and ask for a trazodon.

Oh, but get a showing notification when you're selling your house. The cat knows and will hide like a mofo. I always had to tell the ex to remember not to start cleaning or organizing anything, until I got the cat in the bag, because otherwise he'd be impossible to corral.
