Your toe looks like it hurts like a MF. How are you handling putting on a show and walking?

A good podiatrist can help. Try to get an appointment as soon as you can.
I had about three of them spread out over a couple of years. Tried every homemade remedy out there.
None of them worked.
Finally after enough pain, I went to a podiatrist and he was done in like 10 minutes.
He gave me three shots on the toe to numb my toe. One on the top and one each on the side of my toe.
He got his laser contraption machine out and cut it out.
Took less than 10 minutes.

I had one that was a problem my whole life. Never went to a dr about it because it wasn’t ever that bad…finally started hurting pretty bad…podiatrist suggested I just have toenail removed…best decision ever. Was a little painful for a couple of days but it’s been awesome since then…recommend getting nail removed…don’t need it and it doesn’t grow back.

Podiatrist here....that baby needs to be avulsed. Highly unlikely in a normal healthy patient but I've had to amputate toes in diabetics who developed osteomyelitis from some pretty gnarly ingrowns

I believe it just because you used the word "avulsed."
OP, listen to the good doctor.

Yes- I had an infected ingrown big toenail when I was in HS. It was so bad when I took my shoe off half of my sock would be soaked with puss. Tried soaking in Epsom salt water and putting cotton in between the nail and flesh.
Finally went to a foot doctor who fixed it by cutting the side edges of the nail off and removing them.

They should just remove the toe at that point

Looks like the idiot tried to fix it himself and it curled back in. Tip is black.

Jesus H Christ.
How does somebody let it get that bad before going see a doc? Just amputate.
I have had minor ingrown big toenails but anytime I feel one coming on I trim the nail and run it under hot hot water

Yes had both sides one each big toe removed at various times in high school. Didn’t hurt to bad to have the surgery done. I played a football game the day after getting both side removed on my left big toe.

My son just had the surgery last week. It was pretty rough to watch. He felt no pain after the shots but It got to part where they had q tip sticking out of both side just triggered something in my son and he started throwing up everywhere. Doc said it happens all the time.

You need to put a NSFW in the title.
But yes, I have and had to get both big toes cut on three times. Wore sandals for a year. Not fun.

Yep, I had it in both big toes had to get my nails removed. It seems pretty common in guys who played sports.

I had both removed in HS. General anesthesia. They removed the nails and burned the nail bed on each side. No issues in last 30 years. Worst part was that the gauze was stuck to the nail bed. That was some sort of Asian torture right there.

Had them bad in jr high.
Went to doctor
1st time removed half my toenail
2nd time removed whole toenail
3rd time had laser surgery to remove ingrown part of toenail into the cubical and it’s never came back
This was in 1990

Look for a toenail straightening spring. No doctor needed
