Traveling is amazing. So long as you don't have to bring kids.

Seeing new places is cool.

Traveling sucks.

I like to build things, I like to cook, I like to run, and I love to swim. I love exploring new music, and I teach my kids things. I go to restaurants, sporting events, concerts, and a fair number of parties. All kinds of things. I mean so many warm, interesting people.

find a strange enjoyment in standing in places where historical events took place. Like the theater where Lincoln was shot, or the room that General Lee surrendered the CSA to Ulysses S Grant.

Can’t beat it. Can’t experience those feelings from looking at a photo. That’s just me though.

Yeah when I went to Athens last year is was surreal standing in the ruins. Mind blowing.

To the extent I don’t enjoy traveling (as opposed to just not needing it like some of y’all), it’s the kids factor. Lugging all their shite and not being able to do all I want to do on the trip is a drag at times.

I’m the kind of person that wants to travel in theory but by day 3-4 I’m ready to get back home most of the time. I enjoy getting out and doing new things to an extent but I also enjoy comfort and relaxation. I’m also not really in a financial situation to be doing to much “baller” type traveling either.

This is great and all, but what if he’s content exploring and living life to its fullest within the bubble of his comfort zone?

The “world” can be on the other side of the globe or three states over. It’s just a matter of perspective.

There are so few places to travel now that are not completely full of people. And I hate crowds.

Well, yeah that sounds miserable.

I don’t have kids, I can imagine when I do have kids traveling with them won’t be nearly as enjoyable.

I feel like I’d leave their asses home more often than not, but I also might suck as a parent

I traveled for work for about 10 years and got burnt out on it. I'm as cultured as I'm gonna get.

Same here. I used to travel to a different place for work for almost 2 weeks at a time and I would be home for 4 days.

So I would leave and go to work in Columbus OH and go back home, then I would go to Long Island/Queens and work then go back home then go somewhere different.

I worked that schedule for almost 2 years. I got burnt out. I got to see many different places and I used to think it was cool. Now, not so much.

I switched companies to a local position. I work from home and I don’t like traveling near as much. I still have to be available to travel some. Like this year, I had to go to Fredericksburg, VA and Phoenix for 3 weeks at a time. I’m about to have to go to Hartford, CT for a week to get certified/licensed to fly a drone.

When you have been away from home as much as I have, you appreciate being at home. I still have bucket lists trip I want to vacation though.

Traveling is great, seeing family and friends that you don't see often does it for me. I'm far enough away that I can see them when I want.

Also realize this is bad timing as I just started a thread on the travel board about midwest travel waivers for a winter storm coming tomorrow through Monday...

It's completely overrated.

Young leftists have been especially brainwashed to think that "travel" is the absolute pinnacle of life, along with interracial cuckold porn.

It's ok, and normal, to be underwhelmed by their interests.

Wow. That’s quite an aggressive stance on something as simple as travel.
