Before our kids were born recently, my wife (no pics) and I took a trip overseas each year.
There is no better way to experience the world and different things than travel. I love where we live and don’t expect that I’ll ever reside outside of the South. But I also appreciate the experience of navigating the subway in Tokyo, dinner at a nondescript bar in Madrid, or getting shitfaced with random new friends in Krakow simply because we were friendly Americans.
If you are willing to explore and get outside your comfort zone, traveling can be an amazing way to see our world.

It's completely overrated.
Young leftists have been especially brainwashed to think that "travel" is the absolute pinnacle of life, along with interracial cuckold porn.
It's ok, and normal, to be underwhelmed by their interests.
You have fricking issues
I travel as much as I can. A week at the Grand Canyon and three weeks in Japan last year, three weeks in Spain next year. Hell, I don’t even count the week in Cancun this year.
I’ve regretted a whole host of purchases in my life; I’ve never regretted a dollar I’ve spent traveling.

Of course you do. You're the archetypical leftist loser I'm talking about. I wouldn't be surprised if you watched My Little Pony.

Not a leftist, don’t watch My Little Pony, but I do feel sorry for you. Sucks to be poor, bro.

I get that international travel isn’t for everyone, but I enjoy the hell out of it.

there’s nothing wrong with home, but the world is a big fricking place. go see it. you only get one shot

Actually, that's exactly what this is about. Millennials have been told to travel and not save, and then shown socialism as a life preserver.
Between retirement accounts and savings, I put away 20% gross. Still travel the world. Enjoy your Spaghetti-Os.

Young people aren’t buying homes because they’d rather travel the world
If I had to choose between renting the rest of my life and traveling extensively and owning a home but never traveling again, I would choose travel without batting an eye.
But I don’t have to choose, so there’s that.

The reason we’re traveling more and not buying homes is because we didn’t knock up our high school GFs at 19 and actually want to enjoy our lives while still relatively young.

I like how this is somehow a negative

Over the past 11 years I have flown over 1 million miles for work/pleasure. I've been to all 50 states and 18 different countries. I used to engage the local culture try to get to know some people. Now I find that I don't really care. I'll have a beer with a local and make small talk but it feels disingenuous. I have a toddler now and all I want to do is stay home with her. I guess it's just travel fatigue. I did enjoy it years ago and I'm hoping the wanderlust returns someday.

it’s nice, but I can do without it.
I'm kind of over it. Not the "seeing new places" part. The actual traveling. I hate to fly anymore and there's honestly plenty enough within driving distance to keep me busy for years.

Did a lot of travelling years ago, don't really need to do much now. I'm fairly content doing stuff around here. Been all over the USA, Canada and various countries. I am starting to value the depth I can find at home more than travelling

Typical snarky comment the newly upper middle class make to put you down and elevate themselves. Typically people who have no clue how most people live day to day

No doubt. That 6 percent 401K match is really paying off

I am with you brother. I have actually only flown a couple times. I try to leave my city as little as possible

I pretty much agree all around. It’s like it sounds good in theory but can be a huge PITA and I’m oddly just not that motivated to do so although I’m sure I would love many different destinations for the cultural and just fun aspects.
