It depends on your reason for said purchase. Utility seems to diminish with most purchases, however experiences are far more different than products in the utility department.

As I get older, I’m more bothered by the travel flog.

It is what it is.

I like it ok if I get to see some friends or family as part of the trip, but driving, flying, etc is harder than it used to be for me.

My family loves to travel, but they don’t dread the process like I do so I guess this is a me problem.

Eh, I think of it in this regard. When you're 90+ years old sitting in your rocking chair reminiscing, which do you think is more likely for you to remember fondly?

"Oh honey, do you remember that 72" 4k TV we bought back in the day, what a swell time?"

Or

"Oh honey, remember that trip to Japan we went on years ago? How awesome was that?" As you look over old pictures.

In my mind spending your money on experiences is much more rewarding.
