I negotiate CBA’s on behalf of management and have dealt with unions in the manufacturing, healthcare and transportation industries. I’ve found that in the vast majority of times, Unions take dues from employees without offering much in return and often protect “bad” employees at the expense of hard working ones.

I always tell employees during union campaigns, “It’s 2022 not 1922”.

I used to think they were outdated and a scam. Then the US government came along and tried to force people to take a useless shot and the unions were the ones protected from that nonsense until it got shot down

Union guys here went on strike three years ago, ended up settling for less than they were originally offered.

They came crawling back when their insurance lapsed.

Unions still work for people hired out of union halls, like construction trades. For basic collective bargaining, a man would be an idiot for choosing pay scales and seniority.

Well they do, for the most part get nice pensions and very good healthcare. Also better conditions for the most part. So to say they nothing in return isn’t correct.

I fly them, I don't work for them. And historically they have been the least unionized, and the best, of the big 3 carriers

Any SAG members on here? Nothing beats a union with hefty dues in which 98% of their membership is unemployed at any given time.

I belonged to the teachers’ union for many years for legal protection. I canceled my membership a few years ago because of all the nonsense the unions carried on during/after COVID. frick those people.

Our mill is union, like anything you can't please everyone. The union does protect the lazy but if the company wants you gone they can get rid of you.

The biggest plus of a union is making the company stick to the contract. No doubt our company would treat us like shite without it, they walk a thin line now.

Our HR department is terrible they never side with the employee and will do everything they can to screw the us.

Yes, I’m union. No they aren’t outdated. Our contract is up next year, we have a new union president that’s a hard arse.

The OT has a bunch of corporate bootlickers who live in the past. Corporations care about profit and not about the employee. A strong union is the best way to make sure you as the employee are not taken advantage of.

Using partnerships to increase your bargaining position is a pretty smart thing to do however the way unions operate is deplorable. Modern unions don't represent the workers as much as they represent the union and that is a problem.
