Well for one I’m in legal, not HR.
For two, its absolutely legal to tell employees during a union campaign your opinions. You can use
F- Facts
O- Opinions
E - Examples
You can’t do:
T - Threaten
I - Intimidate
P - Promise
S - Surveillance

Union 1st hand observations:
Their members are more loyal to the union than the company they work for.
They actually believe they’re working for the unions.
After the initial 60 day period to qualify as a permanent employee and they are eligible to join the union their productivity and safety declines drastically.
It’s almost impossible to terminate a union employee.
Their brothers will lie Jesus off the cross to protect their fellow brothers. Hence hearings become a farce wherein the truth is never reached.
There are more issues with unions than the above, but I believe you get the idea.

They're so frickin petty.
"Not my job" is something union dudes say with regularity.

I have a lot of operator experience working in Unions and there are definitely pros and cons. I currently pay dues, but I understand people who don’t because if you’re worth a frick then you should never need the Union. But at the same time companies are always looking for ways to screw you and the Unions do a good job of protecting you. I always look at like having an umbrella in case it rains. I never want to have a reason to use them, but if I need them then I rather be a due paying member than not.
I’d be lying if I didn’t bitch often about worthless employees keeping their job because of the Union though. The “frick it” and “that’s not my job” attitude runs rampant and it brings productivity way down.

I've never worked for one of these. I don't work for mega corp though.

I’ve seen plenty people get roasted for making mistakes when they’re actually good workers. Meanwhile you’ll have other guys just avoid work altogether to never have the chance of making a mistake because they don’t show up. Call that smart, but I call it being lazy and playing the system.

For skilled labor that has lives on the line like docs and airline pilots, no.
For teachers, baristas and warehouse workers…. Lol yeah it’s stupid.

Union employees vs. Non-Union employees productivity measures
Show some data, please.
In a world economy, which one wins?

This.
I work with union construction craft. The construction trades are really trying to promote trades as a viable way to make a living. There is a huge shortage of craftsmen in the country. Apprenticeship will get you training, experience, and work.
I don’t know why public sector jobs need unions. Aside from protecting people from poor performance

I can't fire incompetent workers unless they steal, so it sucks.
