I remember when Six Sigma was a big thing at the company I work for back in the early 2000. Had the “Six Sigma Team” with whatever color belts that came with it. Pretty much any and all projects had to have input from a Six Sigma specialist. Seemed cultish to me and I’m glad that fad faded out long ago, at least where I work.

You can download the book for free & read through even the Black Belt concepts. If you've taken an intermediate stat class or greater, it will be a simple refresher & you won't learn anything new. It's useful stuff just not as gamechanging as it was decades ago.
The mindset/philosophy is fairly interesting to learn, and it's a popular thing so it may open some door if you can discuss with folks & know what you're talking about. If you have any stat background though, spend your time elsewhere

I had no idea LinkedIn was such a circle jerk until I signed up about 18mo ago.
I have a profile just for job prospecting but it’s insufferable being on there.

Word is it's a circle jerk group for those with low self confidence

I've always just assumed it was created by bureaucratic types for other bureaucratic types to learn to navigate the bureaucratic systems they created to protect their own bureaucratic roles.

If you take it for ‘the certification’ versus the tools to solve problems…. Not worth it.
Learn problem solving and statistical approaches to solve problems is highly useful if you are in mfg environment. A must have.

You should work to get the five sigma belt.
That is an extremely horrible joke and I apologize.

Add in 5Y and SAP and you'll be set.

My father was on the team at Motorola working with Bill Smith that developed Six Sigma.
His claim is that it's a joke today and was never meant to exist outside of a manufacturing practice methodology.
That said, I'm in a completely different field and have never had any use for it. Maybe the old man is full of shite.

There's a six sigma black belt meet up every Tuesday at Charlotte Beer Garden. Guys get absolutely hammered and there is always at least one physical fight over the effectiveness of the DMAIC methodology and its practical uses.

The statistics will be overwhelmingly boring, but Minitab is a very powerful program and the design of experiments feature is excellent.

fareplay probably has one, if that helps answer your question.

Already got those too. We have this super cheap version of SAP that’s really difficult to use.

I went through it for manager training at my current company about 7-8 years ago and it was way less effective then some of the other trainings we did.
All the documentation it requires you to do basically doubles the project you are managing IMO.
