I love BR. Great job. Close to hunting and fishing spots. I love my friends here. Close enough to New Orleans to partake but not live there. Enjoy LSU events from time to time but don't base my life around them. Decent restaurants and bars if you don't go every single night and get burned out on them.
Most days I just spend time with family or work in yard.

St. George can't get here soon enough.
Explain how that will help that area with what is being said is bad about BR; traffic, crime, jobs etc. just because it has "St." in the name doesn't mean it's going to be this plush vacation utopia like St. Crois, St Lucia etc.
There will be no reduction in traffic, no wall or barrier ocean to limit popultion shifts etc. jobs aren't going to spring up int this new territory moreso than is already happening or not happening. Schools maybe the one thing that can be improved, but none of the other concerns listed in this thread would be. Oh yeah, once the schools get better expect more people to move there and concentrate traffic to the area. st George isn't like central, Watson etc that was a somewhat separated small town so I don't see how problems will be alleviated be incorporating that land area as a town.

I live in BR and don't really like it. I don't hate it though.
We have great jobs and kids go to great schools. There is nothing to fricking do with kids in BR. Nor is there decent restaurants. I lived in Nola h too 2004 and then after college from 2009-2012. Miss it a lot.

Typical myopic Baton Rouge resident talk.

Some of you people are some sad sad individuals.
Yall act like BR is literal hell on earth
Most of you hate it just to hate it. Others hate on it because for some reason its the "cool" thing to do on here. Dont like it? Leave or make it better. Dont just bitch about something you dont even try to change.

There's nothing here but 7 Saturdays a year that are fun. Roads, traffic, culcha, schools, customer service, etc. suck. Even going to Dr. you have to get through the front desk. Uneducated, lazy and nasty people everywhere you go. Anything good gets ruined by the you know what. I have one child in school here and plan to GTFO as soon as we can.
Did I mention the weather? Give me seasons please.

Born and raised in BR also. It's been on a downward slide since the mid 70's, post Judge Parker. Neighborhoods becoming 'hoods.
New Orleans used to be a great place to visit. Unique history, excellent food, and everything could be walked or jump on a streetcar. Now they're removing history and culture has become culcha.

most people in their teens or early 20s, hate the place they were raised/born
there are literally millions of kids in Houston that feel the same way you do about BR
good luck with a fresh start though

Moved to the BR metro area in 2003 to attend LSU. Landed a job in BR after graduating and will more than likely move out in 5 years when my youngest kid graduates HS.
BR is a cesspool when matched up against cities of the same size. There are some great areas but predominately the BR landmass is 70% impoverished crime riddled shanty neighborhoods.
I will hate leaving BR because I have some amazing friends who have truly made living here a wonderful blessing. Many fun times have been had within the borders of BR. It is just a shame you pay the price in traffic, crime, inept leaders, and shitty schools...

On the other hand BR has serious flaws but acting like it's the worse place to grow up, live, raise family, retire, is just stupid.

BR sucks and I need to leave
Posted on 1/4/17 at 8:16 am to Tres7139
I hate BR traffic, not BR. The traffic is enough reason not to visit.

It is purgatory for me and I would rather live in Des Moines, Iowa if that tells you how much the place sucks.
