Tres tell me about this awesome job you have that supports you and paid for all your school.
You own your own house or just rent a place?.... oh wait, you wouldn't happen to still live with the parents would you, and be like the 90% of people that gets support from their family that you were rambling some bullshite about?

I also grew up and have lived here my whole life. I used to think it was the best place and never thought about living anywhere else. Katrina changed everything. We're being ravaged by a nasty combo of cultcha and LSU humanities majors settling into BR and everyone with a respectable degree/career trajectory gtfo. We've been really seeing the awful effects of the mass Katrina transplants for the past 4 or 5 years.
Katrina and the humanities dipshits with a hugely overinflated sense of self worth are directly responsible the shitty schools btw.
The traffic is unbelievably bad and it's basically impossible to avoid if you want to simultaneously hold an even moderately decent job- which are not even in great supply- and live in a moderately safe area. It takes a minimum of twenty minutes to get to any given destination by car between the hours of 7am and 7pm.
The sheriff's dept is only good for fundraising and providing an endless roster off-duty dumbasses to act as parking lot enforcers when bars let out.
There are large swaths of the city which no one should ever pass through, day or night.
I'd say about half the population is a totally pleasant lot and the other half is composed of total knuckledragging assholes.
On top of all that, the weather just really sucks. We get like 60 days a year of pleasant weather and the rest of time it's either hot as balls, raining, too cold, or fluctuating between any combo of the three. Of course i understand that's unavoidable.

BR is a boring redneck town full of Baptist.

I will piggyback off of that statement and say that South BR and the outskirts of EBR parish is MUCH more redneck than they try to claim to be.
The place was a sleepy one horse town until the 50s when really all the people poured in from NLa and MS.

Yeah, I could have given a shite one way or the other but now I hope things don't work out for you in Houston.

I moved to Baton Rouge in 2003 and hated it the entire time. Couldn't wait to graduate college and move away.

Never argue with a fool in public, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.

I used to have no problem with Baton Rouge growing up, but I slowly grew to hate the way it was turning. After watching the animals run wild following Sterling's shooting, I want out before Florida Boulevard breaks and the zoo moves south. The demographics of this city are made for failure. St. George can't get here soon enough.

Do I have issues with BR? Sure.
It's why I did the same as you and took a job in Houston. BR will always be home though. It has its good qualities too.
And a word of advice....
Don't come on here and post an opinion and then shite all over every person who doesn't feel the same way.
You wont get anywhere doing that.

It is a terrible place to live and unfortunately most people are blinded by their LSU football obsession to give a fair assessment of the city.
- Terrible leadership
- Terrible roads
- Terrible schools
- Terrible crime
and those who think they have "made it" are the typical plant operators making 80-120k a year working 90 hours a week.

All you people bitching need to GTFO and that will solve the traffic issues. Thanks in advance.

It's not that I particularly hate BR, but there are so many other cities that make BR not look good in comparison.

Most of your post would describe N. O. as well. And you mention the weather? B. R. weather is the same as weather all across the south.

I dont disagree with your opinion but I think it's a natural result of where you are in life. You're about to move on to the next stage and your critical eye is probably being influenced by your new opportunities. If you were staying here you might feel kinder towards BR, but you're leaving and probably find it easier to be critical of what you're leaving behind.
Give it 5-10 years in a new town then you'll know how you truly feel about home.
But yeah, BR, like La., leaves much to be desired
