My doctor gave me a prescription for it years ago before I went to work in Africa.

I filled the prescription but never took any of them because I never had any malaria symptoms. Threw the bottle out after I got back to the U.S.

I took one dose of it right when the outbreak was gaining momentum in early April as a preventative measure after a full assessment. I was given the drug by a gastroenterologist (family friend) who had the drug on hand; I did not actively seek out the medication. I have not experienced any symptoms of the virus, however, I do not credit this single dose to those results.

Hydroxychloroquine has absolutely no benefit. And the umc studies mirror multiple other studies. It doesn't work.

The remdesivir (sp?) Shows moderate help in reducing death. But has no effect once the patient is ventilated. (Almost nothing works once mechanical ventilation is necessary).

She is either ignorant or her ideology trumps facts. Is she treating Covid patients? Doctors I have talked to on the front line are using both with great success. But what do they know.

Are vents still in short supply? I'd heard that doc's weren't putting patients on vents as aggressively as back in April & May due to the almost the high number of patient deaths.

I just remember the huge alarm in NYC and the panic of vent shortages.

Hydroxychloroquine by itself is different than hydroxychloroquine as a combo, right?

I’m MAGA as anyone and think the response to this virus is absolutely criminal

And Trump did nothing wrong talking about HCQ early as it was something we were trying in hopes it worked

It was criminal of the liberals to politicize that drug and make it sound like some deadly medicine. It isn’t, and there was no harm in trying. And hell, if it makes y’all feel better to take it when you get infected, go ahead

But to immediately to dismiss this doctor and anyone else that simply says HCQ doesn’t appear to work and calling them dumb/looney etc etc is doing the exact same thing as the liberals did, you are politicizing the drug

Well said. This board is suddenly made of Infectious Disease experts submitting anecdotal opinions. We don’t have quality evidence the drug does anything more than a sugar pill.

I fail to understand why people don’t think this virus is deadly.

Come spend a day in the hospital.

No one thinks the virus isn't deadly. They just think the current response to a virus that's only deadly to .04% of the population is assinine.

There are all kinds of deadly things we face every year, yet we don't shut down the economy and put in place pointless mandates for them.

Reminds me of Dr. Chris Thomas' (OLOL) discussion on the radio.

I don’t care if this highly educated PhD. in Infectious Disease Pharmacolgy says hydroxy-chloroquine is of no use in Covid-19.She’s a lying never-Trumper POS.
Numerous studies have shown it to have some benefit,no one says it is a panacea.
A study released by Henry Ford Health System on July 2’nd showed that 13% treated died,26.4 % not treated died.Look it up-I don’t know how to do links.
Just because someone is highly educated PhD doesn’t mean they can’t be ethically challenged.Dr. Sanjay Gupta is a board certified neurosurgeon that works for CNN,early on he came saying that hydroxychloroqune was a dangerous drug, likely to kill people and he would never prescribe it.He had to know that was a lie but he said it anyway.
A Dr. in California is the foremost expert in treating lupus(can’t remember his name) was on Fox News,he said he has treated 1000’s of patients with Plaquenil(hydroychloroquine) and never had patient have side effects severe enough to require hospitalization.Rather,it was side effects such as nausea or skin rashes.
Ask tits-a-plenty how she can discount favorable studies.

Vents are now the very last resort. The middle ground is BiPAP and Vapotherm.

Ill tell you why

Because 99% of people, if treated with pop tarts, wont have a severe case with covid-19

So if you test or study HCQ or any other medicine for this drug in the normal patient population, you are going to show great results. Because this virus simply isnt that severe

We measured the success of all medicines given so far stratified to the over 75 population or those with 2 or more comorbidities

This is a complete fabrication of fact, there is a much larger portion of the population that is 65+ and/or have health issues that make this virus more deadly to them.

Now, it would be correct to have stated that CoVid has currently been deadly to .048% of the population of the US up to this point in time; but, using total population to calculate morbidity rate of a disease is another fabrication of fact. It's like saying I do not have cancer therefore it is less deadly to people who have cancer, which is complete BS.
