Any idea what could be going on wrong with my car?

There is a slow leak (3-4 drops per day) of red fluid under the engine, closer to the passenger side. My guess is it's transmission fluid. I have taken it to two different auto shops and they can't find any leak and all the fluids check out as full. So whatever tests they are doing aren't identifying a leak when the car is running. This is on a 2006 toyota highlander hybrid. Am trying to get this problem fixed before we sell the car.

It's too far gone. You have no other choice but to burn it and collect the insurance. Make sure it looks like an accident.

Use your nose to identify the red fluid.

It does sound like a transmission leak. May be a gasket that needs replacing or maybe some type of hose.

Toyota coolant is a pinkish red...could it be engine or inverter coolant? That being said...it would be hard to confuse the coolant with transmission fluid.

Your power steering fluid is leaking.
If running Toyota red coolant, You may have a pinhole leak somewhere.

If it's red, it's probably transmission fluid. A couple of drops won't make the level go down noticeably. Take to another garage and have them check axle seal, output shaft seal, input shaft seal, etc... If none of those...transmission fluid lines, hoses, and coolers. It is rare you will have a cracked case or a gasket leaking, but it can happen.

Highlander Hybrids have Electric Power Steering.

Have you checked your fluid levels? Good chance it's more than you think unless you don't really drive it much and it sits in the garage for long periods and you can actually watch. But a lot of fluids will leak worse when in use then sitting.

Taste the fluid, if it's sweet it's tranny fluid.

Does it go EEEeeeEEE, EEEeeeEEE or, eeeEEEeee eeeEEEeee?

Definitely a leaky flux capacitor - and those have to be replaced, not fixed. It's not unusual on Toyota Highlanders, Siennas, and Camrys.
Ask your mechanic if you can get a remanufactured flux capacitor to save money.

I'm no mechanic but it sounds to me like you have a slow leak of some kind. Hope this helps.

NavyTiger74 probably knows more about tranny fluid than anyone on the OT. Maybe he'll respond.
