Sounds like transmission fluid. Had a similar leak in similar position on an old Cherokee I had in college. It would drip down heat up and smoke like a mother.

Install cup under engine to catch fluid.

Just sell it. Don't say shite and let them take it for a spin and have mechanic ok vehicle.
