My FIL was a lifelong democrat up until a few years ago. He is the exact person that the democrats have left behind.

My IRL experience is it's pretty easy to avoid. Maybe I'm just lucky but none of the people in my family or that' I'm around want to talk about it 24/7, or at all, really. They might say something once in a while but I don't engage with them and eventually we move on to something else.

I think it's because some of the people I have met over the years have come from charitable / non-profit causes, which tends to run rather liberal.

TDS was much worse last time around, IMO. Just my personal observation.

That’s to rile people up on an anonymous message board. You get into earnest political debates on fricking Facebook. That’s reserved for my 80 year old uncle and trailer trash

I would gladly cut off contact if any of my friends/family exhibit TDS. I don't need that kind of ignorance in my life.

Luckily the majority of my family and all my friends are MAGA.

f someone wante to post garbage on their own pages, cool. But when you come on to other people's pages, post garbage, and then attack them for not agreeing with you... that... that is a mental disorder.

If you don't engage with them, they have nothing to post to you, so if you don't like it, don't respond. I mostly scroll past the few people who post about political opinions and the like. Occasionally, I'll read a little and chuckle to myself that they think highly of their opinions and I wonder if they think they'll change someone's mind. What really makes me laugh is the "you voted for this" posts which presumes that everyone on their page voted the same way opposite of the original poster.

I unfollow those who post constantly.

She does not have tds, but the conversation that blew my mind was my wife is buying into the "Elon has been given too much power, and he's giving young kids too much clearance" push. I tried to explain the issue with USAID, but she couldn't get past the clearance levels Elon appears to have and the authority the media is claiming he has.

She dug in on her stance, and I went back to burning the candle at both ends trying to close out my books for 2024.

It does suck.

Fortunately, I haven’t lost any significant relationships over it. I think this happens on both sides, but seems much more prevalent on the left. They insist on the lectures about humanity. I have 2 friends that are left, but it works because we can each recognize why we are the way we are. They also acknowledge Biden was a POS potato.

This. Plus, the idea that either side has a monopoly on being right is insane. One's more often right than the other, but neither is completely right.

OP must be one of those people that constantly talks politics which just wears everyone down.

Then he wonders why everyone stops talking to him
