Another example of how prolific AI abuse is at schools

Professor randomly embeds the word "Madagascar" in white text on a white background on a question completely unrelated to that word, the actual question was about the industrial revolution. It was designed to trap people who copy/pasted the text and dumped it into an AI to generate their response.
Sure enough, 32 of the 35 students responses to that question had random bizarre, usually nonsensical references to Madagascar included.
All universities are going to have to go back to pen and paper assignments done in the classroom in front of the professor for a degree to be worth anything in short order.

Boomer politicians are selling their future jobs down the toilet to AI, so why should students not just follow the lead of their elders?
Paying tens of thousands just to get replaced by a computer= well that’s just market efficiency, frick them!

The industrial revolution did have a lot to do with Madagascar because the Europeans stole African technology and claimed it as their own

Whats amazing is that many used AI and didnt even proof read it before turning it in.

Instead of schools fighting A.I., they should teach students how to properly use it. You can't just roll with what it spits out. There's a very human compenent to it as well called reading, verifying and editing.

I personally could care less if a student uses AI, or the internet to answer some history question. The only way to know the answer to the question is to read something, or look it up, so who gives a shite how you find that answer. Remembering the answer after you read it or look it up isn't something I care about in regards to education, as far as a worthless history degree goes.

3 kids were smart enough to read the response and ask the AI to remove any reference or context related to Madagascar.

If this is the story I’m thinking of, it was at Alcorn.
HBCUS aren’t typically enrolling the best and brightest. Especially the public ones.

How are jobs created in the first place and who creates them? I’ll give you a hint, it’s not the government. “Jobs” aren’t some sort of adult daycare. Companies employ people to produce goods or services and to turn a profit. This requires utilizing efficiency in order to compete in the marketplace. AI is part of that. Instead of demonizing AI, you should be learning how best to adapt to it.

No phones in classroom on test day and that message delivered the day before exam…
Whereby Dr excuses are required to make up that exam…
that inevitably will reveal cheaters…
At a minimum.
As for AI as a learning tool, I’m all for it. As a cheating tool, expel the cheaters. Keep the dedicated students. Not hard.

Hopefully AI will go up in flames. It's not only going to replace people's jobs, it's making prices for hardware components sky rocket. I knew it was killing RAM prices, but I didn't know what it was doing to (old) storage prices until recently. I can't even get a very large capacity (10tb+) basic arse hard disk drive for my computer because prices have become outrageous. I refuse to pay the price for what they're going for.

Ding ding ding. People out there fighting all things AI need to wake up and embrace it. There are trillions of dollars dedicated to Ai infrastructure. This shite isn’t going away
Teach people how to use it and learn how to benefit from the amazing things the technology can and will do

My youngest is taking a 500 level course this summer as an incoming senior. Several papers are due throughout the term. They are instructed to use ai for structure and to get you over the hump. They do run a checker that tells them how much was ai created and shows key strokes of how the paper was written.
I'll go out on a limb and state that can all probably be outmaneuvered.
Ok, but what about the prof end? We just paid $600/credit hour and the prof grades my sons work with ai. No human input.
The prof has the summer course on autopilot.

I completely agree. AI is going to be a part of the world young people live in. May as well teach them how to use it in a productive manner…

I'm fine with kids learning to utilize AI in some capacity. But you still have to like make sure kid has some sort of fundamental skills that the AI is augmenting.
