So a kid shouldn’t be able to idolize any pros or look up to any either? Should kids not be allowed to wear Superman capes and Batman masks either because they are too young? By my same point in the other post about fishing, should kids not wear Huk or Columbia or Costas because the pros wear it?

Are you the OP's kid from the pool board thread?

Not sure why this is absurd

Because he is 12.

Just to be clear, you do know they are talking about him as a prospect for USA Baseball’s 12U national team right?

Because your OP makes it sound like you think he’s playing 12U and is being called a “prospect” for the Olympic team.

Seems like your ire should be more focused on USA Baseball for running a 12U national team, not the parents/coaches/whatever for being excited that this kid might have that kind of opportunity.

I mean, if it were a “professional graphic” for a kid playing in the Little League World Series, would that be better or worse?

And you can bet he's not sporting some $15 Academy glove.

Is he supposed to be playing with $15 gloves?

Regular league or travel canoe racing?

It's close to home every weekend. A couple of travel races a year, which look a lot like practice for the dads. Crush cans, sit around and wait.

It’s ridiculous, doesn’t mean those parents aren’t lapping it up, though.

It's pretty nuts, but I do know kids that are 12u that are getting scholly offers to img academy and I know of atleast 1 that has mutiple colleges contact him already. Upper end of travel ball like Texas Florida canes, east Cobb astros etc all have instagram accounts, all already are in the PG database etc.

For example Reese rosehel or however you say it, he is all over the prospect pages with highlights.

It's crazy how young they are being recruited now a days.

Even though i like travel ball, I fricking hate this trend.

I learned to hate travel ball quickly when my son played 15-20 years ago. What it’s evolving into is borderline dangerous.

Kids int the DR are getting recruited to the MLB compounds down there at the age of 12-13...they get cut by the time their 15-16 if they cant keep up.

LSU offered a 14 year old kid a scholly at a tournament in Hoover a few years ago that had never played one varsity baseball game. He was an upcoming Freshman.....kid will probably never step foot on LSUs campus though.....he will likely get drafted out of high school.

Very small chance this kid ever does anything wild. Most of the kids who dominate at that age just grew quicker and peak earlier than their peers.

I had a co-worker who had a tall and big boned son who had football recruiters calling on him when he was in 8th grade. When he was in 8th grade it did not take a rocket scientist to figure out he was going to play college football.

The kid was athletic and a big boy. He ended up going to Oklahoma on a full paid scholarship.

So many bad takes in this thread but these types are some of the worst.

A) the kid is a top 24 in the nation

B) he ays against other kids that are of equal quality. Meaning he is better than all the other kids that "peaked too early"

The kid is a damn stud. Yall sound like the boomers that used to get mad when llws got put on TV.

And yea he isn't playing with a $15 dollar glove and most of yall have no clue how much any of this shite cost or the time commitment.

The part about kids throwing 180 pitches in a weekend. fricking bullshite. Shows your ignorance just spouting off bullshite. The tournaments, other than usssa, have very strict pitch limits and rules. You essentially forfeit if you break them. Usssa uses innings and is just as strict unless you are playing some backwoods tournament with no real rules.

Kids aren't throwing too much and most travel ball kids are playing other sports. Shows your ignorance again. Not even close to the reason for more Tommy John's surgery, which is mainly due to lack of arm care and lack of training deceleration.

I get the ot is a bunch of poors who can't afford the 3k a year it cost to play travel ball, but stop just making shite up. Atleast be truthful about things.

I’m like 90% sure Simon was noticed at 12u ball and offered by Mainieri as a 14 yo.

Why is a 12 year old on Twitter? That is a toxic place.

All that said in this thread, well coached 12u teams are a blast to watch.

There’s some pretty fun high level ball played at that age.

There’s also a ton of crap.

100%

12u is the age were the ones that put in the work separate from the ones who just developed early.
