I know an MLB scout who will see a kid and write his name down to follow up. But it’s not formal, more of just Mingo is a natural athlete...note to self to see what he looks like in HS.

I think, and after having a kid through HS, know, it is utterly ridiculous to assess a prepubescent kid with any seriousness.

I see it now with kids I saw at the park who dominated at the 11-12-13u game only to never really grow taller or get stronger. Meanwhile other kids show up at HS tryouts as a 5'2" freshman become varsity starters as 6'0" 180 lb seniors and some of those 12u prospects become bench or role players.
