Top players will travel to play with top teams. Over 300 players went out for this team so it’s definitely an accomplishment

I have tried like hell to hate these people. We all know it's overboard.

That being said, I enjoy my son being on a canoe racing team. The dads crush cans waiting on the kids down stream. Sometimes we cook for them. Sometimes the ladies ride by in boats. I don't think the baseball people are having as much fun as I am, but if the kids enjoy it, at least they aren't shanking people on canal street in broad daylight.

Sure, but as a parent I can't imagine carving up that amount of time for little league baseball. I know some parents really seem to enjoy it but still.. It's strange to me. I enjoyed little league so much when I was a kid but this is something completely different, and I had a lot of other interests as well. I don't think kids should be specializing yet and i don't think future pitchers should be throwing the ball so much.

think, and after having a kid through HS, know, it is utterly ridiculous to assess a prepubescent kid with any seriousness.
the high school coaches are doing it, best believe it

Both of these are absolutely true. There are situations where kids will play these elite summer circuits and still be done in time to get into football, basketball and other fall sports. But the over use of arms in youth baseball is an epidemic right now. Even at 9 years old. I saw several 9u pitchers at various tournaments this year eclipse 180+ pitches in a weekend. I don’t know why USSSA, Perfect Game, etc. don’t put more of an emphasis on pitch counts. They do have limits, but they aren’t strict enough for the younger kids.

Should be "x" number of pitches and you can only pitch one game per tournament unless you throw less than 20 pitches. If you throw less than 20 pitches the second game pitched can't be on the same day.

I don't care if that's too conservative or if it hurts your team. They're 12.

The reason why they want the best kids to throw is because too many walks will happen otherwise at that age group and nobody wants that, not the coaches, not the kids, not the low-interest fans they want to come watch the games. With the time limits they use I’m surprised they don’t play with 3 balls and 2 strikes per batter

(low interest meaning fans of a kid other than mom and dad. They want aunts and uncles and brothers and sisters and grandparents. You ever ask yourself why they do fall baseball, etc., it’s because more low-interest fans come when the weather is cooler)

What happens to all of these kids when their major league dreams are crushed after years of being pumped up in leagues like this?

What’s the difference between posting a picture of your 9 yr old catching a fish vs this? Should parents not be allowed to be proud and post photos of their kids until they reach a certain age? Is it the photo that bothers you or is it that you have a tendency to view underage photos and if we take away all photo opportunities of kids then you would feel safer?

I wouldn't say it bothers me, but it's odd that the kid has a damn gold chain and sun blocking shite under his eyes like the pros. And you can bet he's not sporting some $15 Academy glove.

You can't tell the difference between a photo and professionally created graphic?

We’ll that wasn’t the parent that created it. It was whoever sponsors the team he plays on and that takes about 5 minutes to do. It’s called modern day technology

Oh so it's completely different than a parent taking a picture of their kid catching a fish, got it

Post 1: how's it different?

Post 2: I'll now explain, myself, how it's different
