Why would they take Williams and not the airport access road?

Yeah that makes no sense.

Reads like someone who really doesn't know what they're talking about and is unfamiliar with the airport, IMO.

This just sounds like a butthurt LEO that isn't in the loop.

"How are they going to operate this airport without asking MEEE first??!!!!!111"

That and a bunch of hearsay. If anyone isn't familiar, law enforcement departments are some of the worst with gossip and spreading unfounded rumors.

A lot of that sounds like complete BS.

To borrow a little piece of law enforcement jargon, maybe it's "almost" true.

Appears to be an authentic writing by a JPSO deputy

As we understand it, what you’ll be able to do from Airline Highway is park in the garage they’ll still have, which is going to become long-term parking, and then take a bus which will leave the airport property and take Airline Highway to Williams Boulevard to Veterans Highway to Bainbridge Street into the new terminal. If that isn’t a 30-minute bus ride into the teeth of that traffic we’ll be shocked.

So, why would they not use the airport access road? I think someone is lying to try and make it look worse.

Seems to know some interesting details for someone who was not allowed access to the new terminal.

No way that’s a real JPSO Deputy. He would’ve said “worser.”

10) Go to the third level and stand by the railing overlooking the TSA checkpoint. Then look up the law regarding carrying firearms into the airport. (hint: open carry is allowed pre security) Imagine it on a busy day. Notice the lack of law enforcement personnel. Note that JPSO had no rifles, no access to security cameras, and no way to truly combat an active shooter situation

This reads like he had 9 reasons to start and wanted to make his list a solid 10

These seem like legitimate concerns (true or false) the people in charge should have a working knowledge of the building. Im not LEO but i do think they should have a grasp of the building in general, muchless and Emergency. The city of New Oleand is ran by retards why would anyone think that this is far fetched.

I follow a few people on insta that are at the open house today and posting pictures in their stories.

Looks pretty goddamn nice to me

As I've said, it'll be really, really nice and a huge upgrade once you actually get inside the building.

The traffic will just be a clusterfrick for 3-4 years.

I will be using the BTR airport for my flights from here on out. Sure that may mean more connecting flights but I'll take that over the hell on Earth that's going to be airport traffic for the next few years.

You do that.

I know everyone wants it to be a disaster, and I'm sure there will be issues, but this isn't the first airport to ever open. It will be fine, eventually.

There are examples of poorly designed airports have to be essentially abandoned. I can't say it will happen here, but everything that has comes out certainly doesn't make me hopeful for this one.

Old airport seemed to get by well enough for its level of traffic honestly. Not nice or with great amenities - but i'll happily sacrifice that type of stuff for a quick and smooth check in / security procedure, which it definitely had.

I don’t doubt that the airport will have a ton of problems. But McKay has time and again demonstrated that he is not a serious person, and I don’t think a real journalist would have published this random letter.

But to the main idea: yes, the airport opening will be a huge shitshow, even with 1st floor restrooms.
