re: Anonymous Source who claims to be JPSO deputy rings alarm bells about New Airport

I’m just an airline employee that commutes out of MSY and am allowed employee parking.
On record, I don’t know what it takes as a JPSO to get a job at MSY but it looks pretty damned cushy. The ones I encounter sit at the security checkpoint exit and play on their phones....A LOT! If I’m wrong I’d be happy to be corrected.
With that said, their has been ZERO communication to me or my cohorts about the new opening. NADA.
Anything I’ve read about the opening has been readily available to the public via the mailings and SM. Nothing has been disseminated to those of us that use the airports in a regular basis. Perhaps the local MSY workers have received something from their individual stations but I just spoke to a few the other day and they had no clue as to how this is going to go down, just a bunch of guesses. Contrast that as to when their is $$ on the line and I’m getting an email everyday saying my parking rate will go up or I’ll be parking in BFE so the airport can accommodate overflow parking in the employee lot.
My guess is that the NEW MSY will treat this much like on the job training and instead of being proactive, be very reactive...which is sad and half assed but par for course with anything the City Of NO touches. Sure, they’ll chalk it up to “well, there’s always kinks to be worked out”, just like they said the Hard Rock crane demo went better than planned. Right.
But if I’m buy a newly constructed house, I’d like my punch list to be in the tens, not the thousands. Now imagine a structure this size where cost overruns have doubled the initial cost. But they’ll need and will get via the public the $$$ it will take to make this as close to whole as they possibly want, as long as someone is getting their cut.

FYI, his reporting on LSU sports is pretty good.
Big example being that clusterfrick of firing Les Miles after the Texas A&M game back in 2015 and how Joe Alleva completely fricked it up with Bobby Jindal playing a major and very influential role behind the scenes to save Les Miles and his reporting on that was dead on correct and he obviously had well placed sources that were in the know.
There was a couple big threads about it on the rant at the time and I think admins or a few other credible posters confirmed it as well if I remember correctly.
when he's not running LSU magazines, closing them down, and keeping the subscription money while not providing the magazine, sure.

8) Ask if there’s any restrooms on the 1st floor. Told they forgot to install any restrooms on the lower level. Where will employees go?!?
, this guy sounds informed.

Yep, he's a blow hard. I'm ashamed that he even is given a platform to spew his garbage. He's always been a tool.

For anyone not into all the doom and gloom, NOLA.com (not behind a paywall) has an article with a bunch of tweets and pictures from the open house.
It looks rather impressive.

The #1 thing everyone is raving about:
the amount of power outlets. There seems to be one every foot of the place. I am in favor of this.

FWIW there are internal JPSO turf battles going on regarding the airport. Apparently Lopinto appointed a very young guy as head of security and pushed aside the veterans, and that will have ripple effects now and in the near future as they transition operations. That's a very desirable gig, obviously.
I have no knowledge of the writer's complaints, but would not be surprised if folks starting saying what they knew.

That sounds like a pretty believable scenario. The lazy old farts probably supported the dumb old fart who ran for Sheriff as well.

Few supported Fortunato. He was not a serious candidate.

The baws on here are always swearing off Nola. The visitors from the rest of the country and around the world keep coming in greater numbers though.

Funny, after they swore off NOLA the crime rate started dropping.
Maybe there is a connection.

I know everyone wants it to be a disaster, and I'm sure there will be issues, but this isn't the first airport to ever open. It will be fine, eventually.
Google Berlin Airport and have a good read.

Denver wasn't exactly a smooth opening either.
