Agreed.

But the options at MSY currently are fricking embarrassing.

I fly into MSY with my wife and 1 year old to visit the in-laws. Usually our flight times are planned around his naps, which means we're in airports around some meal time typically.

If we're in a rush to get to Hobby and don't have time to eat before getting to the airport, I know I can get something decent at Hobby...flying out of MSY, better bring a granola bar with you.

I still say we should leave the existing terminal in operation and simply use the new one as a museum to Louisiana political boondoggles.

The Landrieu Boondoggle Museum may very well pay for itself in a couple of lifetimes.

you people sound like such immense pussies.

the airport doesn't open for three weeks. i'd hope that JPSO can manage to get some printers and office chairs into their "police office" sometime in that timeframe. i'd also hope that the employees can figure out how to get from one terminal to the other sometime in the next three weeks as well.

the access road and traffic issues are indefensible however.

Let's build a billion dollar food court for the whiners in the old terminal.

MSY is the only airport in the world I suspect you can get chicken livers and mint jelly. (Pralines terminal B).

It is just crazy that Las Vegas, Chicago, St. Louis, Houston Hobby, ect. can get by with upgrades to existing 50 year old terminals but we have to spend a billion dollars on a new one that has fewer gates than the old one (may have more with the change order but the original plan actually had less).

Says the supporters of Landrieu's boondoggle that is simply a fancy food court with some gates for airplanes.

Obviously they want to get this open before the run off election is help. JBE needs that to happen.

I have never flown out of MSY, but it looks like it is less than a mile from the Loyola Exit to the door step of the new terminal. That seems pretty easy to get to? Looks like only one traffic light to pass through. Will this be shut off while they construct a new way into the terminal? Also how many parking spaces are on the new side compared to the old terminal area? It looks like they should let private companies come in and build some additional parking garages and abandon the entire south side. Overall it looks like this will be a major improvement over the old setup.

Dude, McKay likes to engage in the great Louisiana tradition of "It'll never work....it's a clusterfrick". BTW the elevator thing is not true either.

This is fake news.....doubt that McKay can show you the letter....or he typed it up himself

Well the old MSY had direct interstate access with essentially no lights to go through so it was very easy to get to. It is going to take them 3-4 years to build the direct interstate access to this new terminal so people will have to get on through Loyola and go through a light, and that infrastructure really isn't there to handle the amount of traffic. It will be a little sticky.

My understanding is "None". I believe all of the long term parking (not just going to pick someone up) is at the old terminal parking garages and you have to take the shuttle over to the new terminal.

The old terminal will be partially torn down and the rest used by all of the cargo companies.

I just drove by Loyola and Veterans, and there is a bunch of traffic. I'm guessing today is the open house, because people are trying to get into the airport, and its already a cluster.

Wrong. There are 2 new garages at the North Terminal. It's not the capacity at the old terminal but there is parking dedicated for the new terminal. Only 1 garage is complete however

well i get that cops are looked at for direction and expected to be aware of whats going on but i see no reason they have to be involved in everything.

when the time comes to open it, how long does it take to hand out a simple memo with the details of things they need to know?

every new place that opens is a shite show the first week or two until everyone learns and gets the feel for how things go

It is. I believe they are doing one today and tomorrow.

I follow a few businesses on Insta as I said earlier, as well as some friends, that are there.

It looks nice.

FYI, his reporting on LSU sports is pretty good.

Big example being that clusterfrick of firing Les Miles after the Texas A&M game back in 2015 and how Joe Alleva completely fricked it up with Bobby Jindal playing a major and very influential role behind the scenes to save Les Miles and his reporting on that was dead on correct and he obviously had well placed sources that were in the know.

There was a couple big threads about it on the rant at the time and I think admins or a few other credible posters confirmed it as well if I remember correctly.
