Its still BS, they're complaining about taxes? Really? They didnt realize theyd have a big tax bill? Benson, the one that owns the saints and several car dealers, didnt expect taxes?

And they couldnt bother putting in a UPS system or a generator so they wouldnt have to dump their product?

S&WB is about the only one that they have a gripe with.

You left out that all the board members demanded that new hires get the clot shot.

Dixie Beer had one thing going for them, name/nostalgia.

And when they got rid of it, they signed their death warrant.

Yep. Failbourg. I'd love to see an accounting of what has happened to the Benson fortune since Tom died.

The entire brewing industry is a bloodbath right now. Places closing left and right.

Combination of saturation and these places throwing their political agendas into every product they push out. How many drag shows can a brewery have?

Why not change the name back, move it to JP, and change the entire recipe of that shitty beer?

Honestly, the first key to being a successful business in Louisiana is to move your business to Texas.

Further proof that smaller, local businesses do not enjoy the ESG protections afforded to the bigger brands. Why they continue to test the waters is beyond me.

If you have a shitty beer the last thing you want to do is change the iconic name to something no one knows. That’s their biggest problem.

I don't think too much is due to politics, as much as you want it to be. Most of the reasons are economic. The industry has been overdue for a culling for quite some time.

So it didn't really have anything to do with "going woke"?

Actually in a circular way, yes. Even the security concerns are thanks to woke policies. New Orleans defunded police and refuse to prosecute criminals, therefore creating/festering the lawless wasteland that is New Orleans East.

Not to mention the drop in sales and brand recognition since changing the name to appease the blue haired statue nazis.

The best beer they make is Datsuma which is not a beer best suited for saturated market or the casual beer drinker. It’s also recently become hard to find.

Urban South Brewery in the other hand is slaying the local beer market. Paradise Park may be the most broadly palatable “local” beer I have ever had. It’s freaking awesome. It’s blown up so much you can find it all over the country.

How close was the modern recipe to the Dixie recipe?

I’m guessing not at all

Irrelevant ...people drank it for nostalgia...cracking open a bottle of Dixie brought you back. Even if the beer was identical, cracking a can of Faubourg just wasn’t gonna do it.

I don’t know many people who are willing to work in New Orleans East at night. I’m certainly not

The largest coffee roaster in the nation is just down the street, pays their people dog shite, runs 24hrs and doesn't have a staffing issue.

Can’t imagine the thought process behind putting a craft brewery in Nola East. The community there isn’t big enough to support expensive craft beer so you’re relying on people driving over from other parts of Nola. And those people know better.

The brewery itself is pretty nice even though it is in a shite area. Taproom is nice. Food was pretty good. Outside area is great with large lawn and lots of seating and frequent musical entertainment. But Dixie's beer lineup sucked and it got no better under the Faubourg name. I had some hope when Oyster City got involved, because those beers are quite good. Oh well.

Benson bought it before all the woke BS and there was no way an NFL or NBA owner would risk being tied to a"DIXIE" brand.

She should have just sold it.
