That is a particularly funny quote, seeing as how homeowners and business owners are getting harassed by BLM nutjobs for calling the police on criminals, when the criminal dies after the police confrontation.

Seems that I remember that surname, Tezeno, being one in trouble with LE in the past as in ancestors of this room temperature guy.

i've always read warning shots are not recommended. Not sure how it applies in this case.

Buddy of mine woke up on the kitchen floor of some Asian couples home after blacking out. He said they were poking him with a broom to wake him up and they were super nice and understanding. Cooked him breakfast and drove him home

“The homeowner eventually comes out of the house with a gun, walks around the front of the house, sees a Black, male subject in his garage/shop area, confronts (the man),” Mancuso said. “It’s obvious, you can’t hear what’s going on, but he’s telling him to get out.”
There is a huge difference between shooting someone in your yard and shooting someone under your roof.
So what is it? If the intruder was in a shop or garage, that's breaking and entering, and the family's lawyer needs to be punished for harassing the home owner.

Id saying trying to come through the mans front door is close enough to get blasted.

There are comments on the article on Facebook wanting to hold the friends accountable for letting him get so drunk and leave the party. No one wants to accept any form of personal responsibility anymore.
If I was the kid's parents I would be slightly angry with my son's friends too.
Yes, the ulitmate responsible party for your behavior is yourself. However I do believe that friends should look out for one another when drinks are involved. It might not be lawfully required but its just the right thing to do IMO.

Anyone remember when that exchange student in BR got shot and killed in Baton Rouge? It was in the 90s and he went to the wrong house. He was dressed up on his way to a Halloween party, went knock on the wrong house and got shot. This sounds similar.

If the "victim" came towards him after being warned not to, this is an open and shut case.
It's 100% reasonable to be concerned for your life in the middle of the night after finding someone trying to get into your home. Add to that the homeowner gave him an opportunity to leave, and this isn't even a discussion.

If you're so drunk that a warning shot does not scare you away, that's pretty bad. I'm guessing that it would seem apparent that the dude was completely wasted or high on drugs, but the video should be helpful there. But if you get that wasted, then you put yourself in some bad positions.
Well, there is also another plausible scenario - the kid was legitimately up to no good and the homeowner stumbled upon him.
That very well could be, but when someone fires a warning shot and the other person doesn't have a gun, 99% of the time, the person without the weapon quickly gets the hint and hauls arse away from the person shooting the warning shot. So either the dude was completely wasted/high or he was a complete imbecile. Either way, he put himself in a bad situation.

and about that calling the police...

he Peairs did not come out of their house until the police arrived about forty minutes after the shooting. Bonnie Peairs shouted to a neighbor to "go away" when the neighbor called for help.
Damn so the Japanese and an overemotional woman got us the brady bill.
quote:
The Japanese public were shocked by the killing and by Peairs's acquittal.[18] Hattori's parents and his American host parents, the Haymakers, went on to become active campaigners for gun law reform in the U.S.[19][20] In November 1993 they met with President Bill Clinton, who was presented with a petition signed by 1.7 million Japanese citizens urging stronger gun control. A petition signed by 120,000 American citizens was also presented to Congress.[21] The Hattoris and the Haymakers lent their support to the Brady Bill (originally introduced into the U.S. House of Representatives in 1991), which mandated background checks and a five-day waiting period for the purchase of firearms in the U.S.[22] It was signed into law by President Clinton on November 30, 1993, as the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act.[23] According to Walter Mondale, then U.S. ambassador to Japan, who presented Hattori's parents with a copy of the Act on December 3, 1993,[24] Hattori's death "had a very definite impact on passage of the Brady bill."[25][b]

Its 10:40 on a Monday night. I am sure the homeowner was startled and nervous as hell. The video will tell a lot and as the sheriff said it's obvious the owner was trying to get the kid to leave.
One thing they left out that to be honest could be very important. I found the kid's HUDL profile for football. He was 6' 228lbs. I would imagine he probably was closer to 240-250lbs now. That is not some small, drunk person. Homeowner doesn't know what substance kid is high on. We have all seen the videos of people on drugs not being phased by police Tasers. This lawyer is just trying to become the next Ben Crump.

Go inside?
When you wake up from a dead sleep and realize someone is trying to breaking into your house, instinct kicks in. You go outside with the gun, someone comes towards you, you fire a warning shot, they still keep coming towards you..
Its a lot easier to monday morning quarterback that situation. People have a right to protect their property. What you want him to do? Call the police? You don't know what can happen during the time you are waiting for the police and calling the police isn't a fix all solution.
It should be done when you have no other option left because depending on what officers show up, they could make things worse.

I agree with you on the lawyer just trying for a pay day, but the sniper shooting him is a very weird and heartless statement.
So you think ruining a man's life for defending his on home is OK, even though the law says he can?

Homeowner is a hero.
Tragic incident but the kid made the mistake, not the owner.

It's amazing how many people don't understand a very simple fact about police. Their job is not to save anyone's life - it's to clean up the mess after the fact.
