quote:

Utility projections for the amount of power they will need over the next five years have nearly doubled and are expected to grow, according to a review of regulatory filings by the research firm Grid Strategies.

quote:

It is all happening at the same time the energy transition is steering large numbers of Americans to rely on the power grid to fuel vehicles, heat pumps, induction stoves and all manner of other household appliances that previously ran on fossil fuels. A huge amount of clean energy is also needed to create the green hydrogen championed by the White House, as developers rush to build plants that can produce the powerful zero-emissions fuel, lured by generous federal subsidies.

And maybe, just maybe, they should have thought this out. But instead, only now, the brain trust is waking up and smelling the coffee.

quote:

Planners are increasingly concerned that the grid won’t be green enough or powerful enough to meet these demands.

Any person armed with basic knowledge and a brain could have predicted this.

Article is from WAPO, and it is here.

Another one of those crazy "conspiracy theories" that have been proven to be true. We have been self-sabotaging our power grid for a couple decades by focusing on renewables.

Induction stoves are more efficient than traditional electric stoves, which is what the vast majority of households have.

The grid isn't being taxed by induction stoves lmao.

Maybe don't allow massive amounts of illegal aliens into the country.

When we lost power for two days in the TX Freeze 2021, we were damn glad to have a gas stove. It was 43 degrees inside my house, but we kept warm with blankets, gas fireplace (which doesn't give off nearly the same heat as a real wood one) and heating up hot liquids, as well as gumbo and soup from the freezer.

With an electric stove, I'd have had to be outside in the sub freezing weather trying heat shite up on my Bayou Classic.

People wanting to ban gas stoves fall into one of two categories:

1- Communists on power trips who believe they should have more control; or

2- Idiots who are brainwashed by those in #1 above.

Molten salt reactor fission plants are the future but no one wants to touch it because of the environmentalists.

Some people just prefer induction to gas, they're pretty awesome for their own reasons and they're actually more efficient than standard electric stoves. Neither one is taxing the grid in the same stratosphere as other things.

Gas is great too. Electric stoves blow mule penis though.

The author of the piece just did no research.

ETA:

I think electric stoves use like 1 kW to cook a meal and a Tesla takes like 100 kW to charge each night. Ford Lightning is a lot more than that.

This. Not to mention the strain of other infrastructure like housing, inflation, food supply, schools to overload, garbage increase, traffic increase, and government spending.

I would never support a ban on gas stoves. Just pointing out that the author of this article is talking out of his arse saying that induction stoves are a new, increased tax on the energy grid.
