America has outgrown the 2 lane interstate system

Eisenhower had a great idea copying the German autobahn but 60 plus years later, it’s painfully obvious that we have more cars than the capacity it provides.
Driving east from Louisiana to Florida and it’s pretty much bumper to bumper in both directions.
I know it is summer traffic following the 4th but it is like this in the non-summer months as well.

Yes. Time for flying cars and hyper loops

I usually do most of my vacation driving during the late night/early am.
Smooth sailing.

Im sure this thinking will go into the BR Loop design plans.

Once we're all in self driven cars, traffic will be a WHOLE lot more efficient.
...unless the cars themselves start playing on their cell phones.

I generally agree but how do we finance it?

Look around. It's all people like yourself. Leave a day early or travel early in the morning. Everyone would like an extra day at the beach. Leave a day later as well. Planning. It' like people who complain about contraflow during a hurricane because they left at the same time as a million others did. PLAN!!!!!

You're driving at literally the busiest time of year for that stretch. What the hell do you expect?

I know one thing, Interstate 65 through Alabama needs to be three lanes both ways from the AL/TN line all the way to Mobile. The traffic in the summer is horrendous.

The solution is simple.
Build more beaches
Build more beaches

America doesn't need thousands of miles more of their land covered in concrete, we need less.

We need a gulf coast loop.

It’s plainly obvious. But I think you have to be old enough to remember a less crowded America to realize it. There are 130 million more people here than when I was born. Probably 150 million with illegals. Almost 200 million more than when Construction on the interstates began.

I have driven that stretch at all times of the year for decades. Aside from Baton Rouge and mobile (at rush hour) traffic is pretty much non existent outside out june and July all the way to Jacksonville
