Exactly

I would like an actual official explanation here

Not that it truly matters

This may not affect small purchase but it absolutely will impact purchases in the 100-1000 range for me

Really debating if I even care to have prime. I suppose so but pretty bummed by this

Y'all motherfrickers need to sit down and watch a School House Rock video or something. A governor doesn't just make up laws. This bill started in the Louisiana House of Representatives - which has 61 Republicans to 42 Democrats.

LINK - there's a legal challenge to it, of course.

question you need to ask yourself is f it's worth it to pay $100 a year for Amazon Prime movies because that's basically what we're left with now regarding Amazon Prime membership.

It doesn't work like that. From what I understand, the house passed a law that moved the burden of taxation from the LA taxpayer to Amazon type companies. Consumer Use tax has been around forever and while I can understand being bummed about paying more, just think how much Amazon was destroying Louisiana based businesses.

It'll still be worth it to me for free shipping on the vast majority of what I order.

The sales tax thing sucks, but I don't think it'll change my habits much. Amazon will still be cheaper, and even if not, I'll gladly pay to not have to go to the mall or a Wal-Mart during the holidays.

this - but....but....it was on TD, so, it has to be JBE fault. Barras and Alario shoved this issue hard - like Viagra hard.

I wonder how much money that's going to put into the state coffers on an annual basis? Probably millions, if not tens of millions.

5% on all Louisiana Amazon.com sales is going to be a high number.

Did this recently happen? I ask because I have ordered from Jet before and don't recall paying tax. However when I looked yesterday, taxes were being added to my purchase.

I went elsewhere.

Technically, you're not supposed to go 1 mph over the posted speed limit either. I bet you do though.
