Am I the only person who thinks Amazon is slightly overrated? It seems like there are less prime items available than when I first got prime and it might just be me, but it seems like there are certain items (shampoo) that if you buy from Amazon, isn't the same quality as if you would go to walmart or some other store to buy it.

Amazon is only cheaper on some items. The majority of items now comes from individual resellers that are encouraged to raise their rates to cover the "free" shipping. This makes many of the items you buy on Amazon only cheaper when you do not have to pay sales tax.

As they increase product offerings, you've got to be careful with some of the products from third party sellers. Outside of that, I still find a ton of value in my membership.

Amazon has fallen a lot in terms of customer service the last year or so as well as the cost of items. Shipping has been much more unrealiable as well.
But all the free stuff offered with prime if you make use of it is still a great deal.

Subscribe and save is still a huge benefit as well.
15% off on household products is tough to beat. Target offers 5%, but not the full 15% you get with enough items in your order w/ Amazon.

I still find a ton of items on prime there.
However, you need to pay more attention to reviews now I feel. Some items are third party sellers from overseas.

Right now the stuff I buy via Amazon Pantry isn't cheaper than Wal-Mart. It is just more convenient to buy non-essentials and have them delivered. Not looking forward to taxes since I'm now going to be paying a good bit more.

I'll still buy from Amazon, but probably not as much. No need for Prime anymore when I can order on other sites for cheaper. Only reason I had prime is because I ordered damn near everything from Amazon
ETA: I'll still buy whatever can be S&S though since 15% off is still worth it

Pretty sure that prime is not needed to get these S&S benefits but I may be wrong.

I've been paying tax in TX for some time. It's hardly noticeable. I still use the shite out of prime. Hard to get upset over something you technically were supposed to be paying anyway. Prime still also usually meets the best discount I can find other places, so it's nice to have that confidence and not search every single website for every purchase.
