And it’s the DC area...

quote:

There have been more than a few hints recently that Amazon, which last month released a shortlist of 20 cities it's considering for HQ2, is leaning toward putting it somewhere in the DC metro area. Arlington would be part of the bid for Northern Virginia, one of three DC areas on the shortlist. The other two are Montgomery County, Maryland, and DC proper.

NOVA residents will now spend their entire 8 hour day just trying to get to and from work.

Gross. Potential to be the most omnipresent entity in modern history, right in the federal government's backyard.

Can a non-government, non-government contract corporation make it in the DC area?

I don't think anyone wants to voluntarily live in Newark.

I love Amazon and use a ton of their products and services. But I do wonder when they become the next Walmart. Walmart was once a revolutionary company in the 90's as well. When does Amazon lose its cool factor and actually have to turn a huge profit to justify its stock price? It's expanding like crazy but all based on future assumptions that Amazon will always be as cool and revolutionary as it is today. Does it really need a 2nd HQ?

Shocked I tell ya, a company whose #1 priority is lobbying congress to not tax their customers is setting up an office close to congress! No way!

The site says the story recently saw a spike of about 6,000 pageviews mostly referred from what it identifies as an internal Amazon.com page.

Top notch reporting there.
