I don't understand everyone being hung up on whether or not the guy had been drinking or had credible information.

To drink, or be (or not be) credible, one has to first exist.

And BRPD not only told everyone at the press conference he didn't exist, they doubled down on it and then reiterated that to the owner of The Shed in a private meeting afterwards.

Of all of the things they could claim, that's one that's very easy to dispute, I don't know why it's the hill they chose to die on.

I was just looking at number of murders in Baton Rouge by year. Starting in 2005, that's when Kip Holden took office.. On January 3, 2005. His last day in office was December 31, 2016.
Yr Homicides
05 50
06 56
07 72
08 67
09 75
10 69
11 64
12 67
13 49
14 53
15 60
16 47

SWB takes office on January 2nd, 2017

17 89
18 79
19 70
20 100
21 70
22 From January 1, 2022 to July 2, 2022 from what I gathered there were 76 homicides during that time. Of course we know its higher 2.5 months later.

You can argue that 2007 could have been due to Katrina. People either deciding to leave NO and moved to BR or people who were brought to other places decided to return to Louisiana and they ended up in Baton Rouge. So 2007 - 2012 the number stayed between the 60 to mid 70 a year range. Then in 2013 they dropped through 2016.

2017 comes, SWB takes over and the year finishes with 14 more homicides than the most in a year under Kip.

Its amazing to see these number and how quick they went up under SWB with her boy Murphy Paul in charge of the police.

In her first year, there were 42 more homicides than the year before. How the hell does that happen?

And this year if there were 76 homicides from January 1, 2022 to July 2, 2022 thats 76 in 183 days so at that point the city was on pace to finish the year with 148.

If someone can provide something that shows more accurate numbers from 2019 - current please do.

I wonder why the numbers stop being reported on brla.gov in 2017?

Agreed. All that matters is if it’s possible he saw what he saw. Wouldn’t even have to call them suspects. Looking for two potential witnesses. Both black males. One in red hoodie and the other in a dark outfit seen near the scene that night. Doesn’t even need to have an age. They could use that to filter out any tips.

Nice work. That is astounding.

Not sure how it's possible to run a city in the ground that fast.

Left plenty of room for the Russians.

First you had random warehouse fires.
Then there was an uptick in the amount of [certain types of] weapons.
Suddenly there were Russian cocktail waitresses/dancers everywhere.
Etc...

I remember when they stopped as well.

But now I guess in the name of transparency the data is all here you can analyze yourself. I've downloaded every brpd report from 2021 to last week into Excel. You can filter by murder and stuff like that.

Uber has turned over its driver information.

quote:

BRPD investigators have contacted the ride-share service Uber as they search for clues about Rice’s killing, a source familiar with the case told WAFB. Uber was able to provide BRPD with a list of all of the drivers who were in the area at the time of the killing to see if they saw anything. The source did not disclose whether those drivers provided any useful clues.

The only reasonable explanation is they checked and for some reason, his story doesn't add up.

Which is fine, if that's the case. But don't say he doesn't exist.

Nope. They said he didn't exist. Not that they talked to him and his story didn't add up. Not that they interviewed him and the tip wasn't actionable or credible.

Not that he wasn't a real witness. That he was not a real person. That they did not have a record of someone calling in this tip.

I've wondered if possibly there is security camera footage which might contradict the public story the witness alleges. Even so, I think the investigation is unnecessarily drawing the public's ire.

There has to be security cameras in that area around Government that has clues, whether it’s vehicles at that time of evening or walkers.

According to the family friend that is fielding a lot of the media there is a business where it happened that has cameras & as of his interview yesterday BRPD had not asked to view footage

I figured they were talking about Bengal Glass. He said it was right near the crime scene and had been there decades.

If that is true, you get the feeling that this leadership is more concerned with ensuring the public knows the dept. will conduct this investigation however it chooses, and less about actually conducting the investigation.

They seem determined to show their policy is “take a number and have a seat”

I’ve been following this discussion since it started and it’s completely sickening. I try to check in every night to see if there’s any advancements but I don’t read the entire thread.

I have a friend that works within LEO. They’re not directly tied to this case but according to this person, there are apparently two potential suspects but nothing has been released, and this source wasn’t sure why. Is anyone hearing this? I don’t have anything other than what this person is saying. Hearing they are minors, like younger than 16?

I’m not saying this is legitimate, just wondering if it’s been discussed. I’ll delete this if it’s an issue. I don’t want to start any rumors. I was just discussing this with someone and she mentioned this mutual friend commenting on it to her.

How much dope would be required for some dope heads to assume the reason they "missed" a stopped cargo train is because of a car that is stopped waiting for the stopped train to start moving?

I don't see what you see sir
