I’ve never seen someone not have their carry on as close to them as possible. Are you sure the bin wasn’t filled when they got on?

This scenario: I'm at the back of the plane (I know, sorry for being poor) and I board late. I have no way of knowing if the overhead above my seat is open. But on my way down the aisle there is open space. What are the rules then?
If you eyeball back toward your seat and they're all/mostly closed you take that effing overhead space.
If idiots didn't put their coats, computers, purses, and other personal items in the overheads there would be plenty of room.

Watched 4 people put their bag in a bin at the front then walk to the back

why would you not want your luggage close? That just takes longer to get off the plane. I always board in either group 1 or 2 just for the prime OHB space.

That open space is for the people that bought seats below it. They will be there in a minute to put their stuff in their spot.
False, unless you're suggesting he should remove whatever bags are in the overhead by his seat and set them in the aisle.

Only if you're a manlet as you have plenty of leg room.

When there's plenty of space over your seat deserve to be publicly flogged. That is all.
The bigger problem is that with all the airlines charging for bags everyone is trying to bring every item they own on the plane and the boarding agents do nothing.
I was one of the last people on a plane once and had a small canvas "weekend" bag. Because of all the frickers who got on before me with monstrous rolling hardcase bags all the bins were full. My bag was just slightly too big to go all the way under my seat and they were trying to force me to check it.

This would not be a problem if you just fly private instead.

What I am suggesting is that the people who filled the bin over his seat should put their crap above their seat.

Yes.

Agreed if they brought both a carry on and a laptop bag.
Disagree if they only brought a laptop bag.
Just imagine if another 20 people think that making another 6 check their bags. It is inconsiderate as frick.

Wrong
I checked my bag and going to use my space

They should charge for carry-ons rather than checked bags. Not charging for carry-ons encourages cheap asses to carry-on as well. I get that some people want to carry-on because they have important/valuable stuff though.
I get that you only get on a plane once every half decade. The people who do carry-ons tend to be people that work for 4 days and can easily fit their crap in a bag. Having to spend another 30 minutes in the airport can be a big deal, not to mention the chances of losing your crap by checking it. Sorry, but that time and peace of mind is worth it to me, so you hacks that only leave Louisiana twice a year for Florida and a bowl game can all go frick yourselves.

Blame the assholes that put their purses, briefcases, and jackets up there, not the people that bring the suitcases that were specifically designed for the overhead.

You ever had a bag lost?
Time saving is real. Priority slip means frick all to handlers

Ummmm, yeah, like a dozen times. One time they fricking ran over my luggage on the runway when I was doing my floating gig and had to replace my wardrobe (on their dime). Yeah, it happens. They found the others eventually, but its a relatively common. There's a reason there's often a line in lost baggage.
