Most likely, lidar (laser). Very difficult to detect. Best to have a jammer or use Waze and hope speed trap has been reported.

Troop G does this on I-20.

One Trooper shoots radar from the overpass while 3 others line up on the shoulder of the entrance ramp. The call goes out and the first one in line makes the stop and then comes back and gets in the back of the line.

It’s an elaborate ticket writing factory.

It shouldn't be legal for a policeman to write you a speeding ticket if he didn't clock you from his vehicle.

LA state troopers - “We’re out here trying to prevent crime and put away criminals”
Also LA state troopers - “Catching criminals doesn’t pay the bills, middle class white people do”

Stopping tax collections, is cool.

It's no different than the 100s of seatbelt stops.

Really. I just travelled to the Gulf Coast for a weekend beach trip and it's pretty much smooth sailing on I-10 from Mississippi to Florida. However, the part in Louisiana is where you get jackasses camping out in the left lane going 60, speed changers (speed up/slow down/speed up/slow down), and people going extremely slow in the right lane. It's a headache to drive I-10 in Louisiana. The last thing we need is a cop to make slow poke slam on his brakes as though his going 20 mph under the speed limit isn't enough.

They tried this with me the same day construction speed limit signs were put up.

I beat it in court. Turns out the construction company put up the signs without authority. No one actually filed the paperwork to change the speed limit.

I know the trooper that wrote me the ticket made up the "speed" I was going. He was wrong by 10 MPH. Also, I was flagged to pull over by one trooper and had another write the ticket. I watched him, from the time I pulled over to the time the trooper never touched his radio. He never communicated with the trooper with the laser. It was a scam to write tickets. also, there was zero construction going on, the signs were just up.

It should be legal to commit murder as long as your jury doesn't see you

May blow some minds to learn LSP gets zero dollars from their tickets. Not a penny.

Truth. 2 shootings at bar/clubs last night but let’s pull people over for doing a couple miles over the speed limit

What do you Do with a six foot azz hole?

Give him a radar gun and park him on a bridge in a police car.

Yet they still have a quota of tickets they have to write. Oh wait... they call it a "safety quota", or at least they did a few years ago.

Artificially low speed limits are awful for public safety and exist primarily to fill the coffers of government.

This a million times. 9 times out of 10 flow of traffic is at least ten miles over the posted limit.
