What does that look like though? A few socials perhaps? I really don't know.

Which is an organization. If a band member died from hazing I've got a hard time believing that LSU wouldn't come down hard on the band.

typical F King move when he doesn't know WTF to do. Punish the good for the bad just like kindergarten......
Yeah, it's a very typical move of hyper PC oriented people

It's temporary and LSU doesn't want the news to get video of some official Greek function with a bunch of kids (underaged likely at that) smashed. That's why they get suspended for a time.

Meh, I think this move gets them the least amount of blowback.
What would have been the blowback there?

I wonder how the pledges feel about not having to do pledge shite on game day

No, it's not. Explain to me why exactly a sorority should have to suspend all activities? Or hell even another fraternity?
They did nothing wrong. But frick em, they're greeks and I hate greeks amirite?
You're way overthinking this. To the casual observer it's pretty clear that the suspension is a warning to let them know how serious this is and catch the attention across the board, not a "punishment" being handed down. I bet it only lasts until the dust settles and it's clear what happened in this particular chapter, at which time the true punishment will be issued to the offender(s) and the rest will go back to business as usual.
They (administration) have to do something to let it be known that this kind of stuff is not acceptable

Punishing every individual within the Greek system for something that only one fraternity did isn't justice.
By that logic, every college should be shut down when something bad happens at one college. Didn't some college allow the SJW/BLM crowd to beat the shite out of people, and take over the campus? Shut 'em all down.
Zero tolerance has to be the most idiotic concept ever, and schools and college administrators eat it up. That should tell people something.

It's about money. Fear of civil liability has turned college administrators into risk analysts. And Greek Life staffers know as much about having fun as the members of Campus Crusade for Christ. They are a bunch of 20 and 30 something prudes who need a good frick and a line of coke.

I see this like a construction project. You just had someone killed on the project, you shut it down while you review procedures. Then quickly institute some "safety protocols" then you resume construction.
I would imagine this is what they are doing. expect some new restrictions and guideline before the Syracuse game next weekend.

Locally, probably none. Nationally? You know how these things often play out.

Greek president meeting was here. Apparently just ended a few minutes ago. Members outside houses have all said "no comment."
Meeting was at the Kappa Sig house, fwiw

I was in a frat at LSU in the late 80s early 90s and my son is a pledge at LSU right now. I went to the parade grounds on Sat. To check out the frat tailgate. I could not believe how out of control it was. There is no way this has been going on without F King Alexander knowing about it. In the old days we had parties at the house with beer and jungle juice and bands. We got trashed but we were not shooting hard liquor.
LSU made it much more dangerous and volatile by forcing the parties on to the parade grounds.
F King is going to politically posture when he knew how out of control things were. I told my wife at the parade grounds that someone would die soon.
Basically drinking age should be 18, parties at the house And kids that killed the kid should go to jail. Also F King should be fired for laying down on the job.

I get the liability aspect but banning a sorority from having a social event because of some unrelated fraternity incident doesn't really protect you from anything.

Ya. It's called revoking their charter and the police arresting 20 members. That's a pretty damn loud and clear signal.

Depending on the intent, it's an overreaction, or more along the lines of a safety stand down, which happens all the time in industry and the military. Time will tell which it is.
