I like using AEX. Easy and pleasant. Not a shithole like LFT.
I actually like the food and people at Quebedeaux's....which is pretty easy on/off from I-49 for some travel food whether going north or south.
Other than that...Alexandria is just....kinda there. I really fail to see any tourism appeal.

Is it a crime to comment on the festival that goes on where I live? I'm not a huge LSU fan so I have no comment on their ongoings really. Some of you Louisianans have a constant head in the toilet attitude of negativity regarding just about everything imaginable.

In fact, most couples that I've talked into going to Alexandria go back at least once to hike any trails they didn't get to their first time in the area.
This reads like a Kige Ramsey script

I’m pretty sure it’s still 2010 in Alexandria.
That area is generally 10 years behind the rest of the state.

Pretty incredible. You joined in 2012. Your first post ever was in July of 2019 in this thread, bumping a 3 month old thread about your home town. Your 2nd post was on the outdoor board, again talking about Cenla. And now this post, bumping a 2 year old thread defending your previous post in it.

Alexandria was great for me in the 80s.
As for today, I would live in Texas were it not for tribal duties in 'Ellick.

My wife is from Alexandria, there is nothing romantic about Alexandria lol. Only thing romantic about it is when we leave there.

I had a great time growing up there in the 80’s, left in ‘92. High school was fun AF, and living out on the lake was perfect. Good times.

Yeah, because once you get away from Alexandria, everything looks romantic by comparison

And they put a picture of the Airport control tower on the article? That tells you how much people want to leave CenLa.

Did you just to bump a thread from 2 years ago with an account that's 9 years old with no posts?
(Alexandria is a shithole, by the way)

I really want a psychologist or neuroscientist to do a study on people like this. There has to be something wrong deep in the brain that encourages people to pointlessly bump years-old threads.

The paper mill that hasn’t been there for over a decade? That’s amazing

Nah, 2014. Could be worse, could be better.

quote:Alec is objectively a crappy town even when compared to cities its size. It's cool that people are passionate about their towns but the whole "at least it's not Detroit" mentality prevents a lot of people from improving their community. Is it a boomer thing because I come across that mentality with some people in Lafayette too?
Alex gets shite on a lot, but I actually like the place. If you want the big city experience then go to a big city

3 year thread bump?
I'm rooting for Alexandria to clean itself up. I'd love to see an automobile plant or something open up there.
But it's in really rough shape and is extremely depressing to visit. What are you guys doing to attract some more manufacturing business? Because it's not enough.
