There is no journalism today. It’s all propaganda. It’s either political or marketing pap written to promote an agenda or product. Journalism died years ago along with real journalists.

I pass through it when I'm driving up north but I don't think I've ever spent more than one hour in Alexandria and I couldn't tell you what are some unique identifying features about the town.

It's like every now and then we remember Delaware exists and how I'm reminded that I have never met a soul from Delaware and then we forget all over again. It's the same for Alexandria.

80% of the assholes on this board would think Alex was great if it were around I-10. But it's in CanLa, so therefore it sucks.

I'm interested starting a Tour company based in Alexandria to capture this market. Tour vehicles will be converted pulp wood trucks. We will offer scenic drives through the Kisatchie and other special points of interest throughout Cenla. Choice Fillin' stations along the way will offer up deep fried meals to your satisfaction. First 25 to sign up will get free poster of scenic Buhlow Lake

I know some church women in Cenla that can mop the floor with those elite chefs

Yea, who would want to live in Alexandria when you can live in an outstanding third world country?

My wife grew up in Africa and she was appalled by the drive from Mandeville to Shreveport.

Do you feel your wife is racist in any way?

My wife is not particularly racist. She does have a distaste for sleazy Indian and Arab men, but that's about it.

I had sex in my truck in the Pitt Grill parking lot. One of the most romantic nights of my life. Also had sex in a boat docked at Tunk’s and it was super romantic.

When I was in my small, north of Alex K-12 school in the 70's, the lunchroom grannies were the bomb. They made the best yeast rolls I have ever had and not come across since.

The smell of them baking was pure child abuse.

Alexandria may be the saddest town I have ever visited, including the ones I’ve seen in the third world. That place just reeks misery, literally. The smell from that paper mill is olfactory AIDS.

holy exaggeration Batman!

Posts like these are why you are not taken seriously. You sound like a baffoon.

Truth. One thing Grant Parish could do was make yeast rolls.

You haven't missed much. It's basically a small boring town sandwiched between two historic Huey Long era traffic circles. In fact, those two abominations might be the least boring aspect of the place.

You haven’t been there in awhile it seems. There is only one traffic circle. Been that way for years.

Yeah. Had my fill in the 80's and 90's when I visited friends on my way to and from Kisatchee. Stopped in every time. They moved to San Antonio and when interstate 49 was completed, I never had any desire to partake of Alexandria again.

They do have the second longest commercial runway in the state thanks to them taking over England AFB.

I understand that. Every place has good and bad about it. Alexandria is definitely getting worse.

Oddly enough, Alexandria is home to a lovely holocaust memorial, which Jewish and German visitors will be sure to want to see.
