Airlines lawyers; Passengers who pay for a window seat may not get a window with the seat
LINK
When you book a window seat on a plane, you’re likely expecting to be seated next to a window — but some airlines argue otherwise.
In response to a class-action lawsuit against Delta Air Lines and United Airlines filed by passengers who claimed they paid extra money to sit in “window” seats, only to be seated next to an empty wall, United has asked a federal judge to dismiss it.
The airline is arguing that a window seat means a seat next to a wall — not necessarily a seat with a view.
“The use of the word ‘window’ in reference to a particular seat cannot reasonably be interpreted as a promise that the seat will have an exterior window view,” the airline’s lawyers wrote in a motion to dismiss the case on Nov. 10. Rather, the word ‘window’ identifies the position of the seat — i.e., next to the wall of the main body of the aircraft.”
The lawyers also noted that United’s contract of carriage does not explicitly guarantee that a window seat will have an exterior view next to it.

You mean windows and seats don't always line up perfectly on airplanes??
I'm shocked and I'm going to sue

Then they should be charging extra for wall seats that may, or may not, contain a window.

Why on earth would someone pay extra for the privilege of sitting next to a wall?

This is the right answer, but use seatguru folks, it's your friend.

I'm the opposite, because I'm a little claustrophobic if I'm on an airplane I'm going to be in an aisle seat where I at least have a little open space to one side of me. I still feel like I'm in a sardine can though

What third-party app is charging extra for window seats?
You pay extra for class, not window vs. aisle

Correct - AFTER they pay the f*ck out to the plaintiffs

At the very least the seatmap should indicate that there isn’t a window.
Looking at you seat 23A on a Delta 757.

737-800 around row 10 on the left side of the plane is missing a window too, as I recall?

I prefer aisle seats so I don't have to climb over people to go take a piss, but that's just me.

Micro-purchaaing at its finest
The airlines know that nobody wants to be stuck in the middle seat
So the ticket purchase of $297 defaults to it, but for the low price of $30 per flight you can now "upgrade" to window or aisle
Don't forget additional costs for bags, wifi, snacks, terminal fees, service fees, too many fees fee and taxes (unless of course you've logged 50,000 miles in the Loyalty Rewards program)
Total cost of flight $792

You are correct. A slimeball lawyer saying that the words don't mean what they say, they mean something totally different is just adding to the stupidity.
It is like ordering and paying for a hamburger, then being served a grilled cheese. They cannot then say that ordering a hamburger means you get grilled cheese.

Man frick lawyers and frick the litigous society that they've fostered.

Slick Willy's lawyer who convinced Slick to permanently make himself the butt of jokes by saying "It depends on what your definition of 'is' is" under oath must be representing the airlines.

Hey look everyone, someone that hasn’t flown in the last 5 years is making declarative statements as if he has.

Airlines suck for doing this. And people hate lawyers for that quote.
BUT they are screwed anyway. Fed Law, Airline Deregulation Act, says can't sue for something like this. Can only file a complaint with Fed Dept of Transportation

Seems simple enough to just use "window seats" for seats with actual window access, and name other seats something else. But maybe I'm just stupid.

Nothing to see anyway except clouds.
