I don't know. I don't have any friends that would act like that. Some people just need and feed off of drama and they love to create it where it doesn't exist. IE Karens

Cutting your own grass, changing your own oil, who knew we had so many O-T poors?
Maybe they can't afford to get it fixed. Maybe it was a timing issue with finding a shop to fix it (seems like it could be this based on their later post).
I don't understand how you would say yes, then no. I could see saying no the first time. But what changed?
Maybe the second time, say, sure, but I'm swamped right now, I'll leave it in behind my fence, just come grab it and bring it back when you are done.
I do think they are being overly dramatic... message at 3 am... were they drunk?

3.5 weeks later they're asking to borrow again, which means they didn't even bring theirs in to be repaired. Feel like they thought they'd keep using mine.

Like I said in OP these are not good friends, more like casual friends I see at the bar.

IMO, you did everything right, except posting it here. If you have to have positive reinforcement over not letting someone take advantage of you... then maybe seek counseling. If not, then just move on and write them out of your life. They probably aren't the first and more than likely won't be the last.

I just can't imagine caring about this. I wouldn't be shuttling mowers around, but my friends are pretty much welcome to borrow whatever they want whenever they want for however long they need it.
If someone breaks something or loses something they'll replace it or pay me or I'll tell them it doesn't matter if it's old/not that valuable.
Them taking offense by you blowing them off makes no sense either.
