re: Verizon service issues
Posted by hollowpoint on 5/28/22 at 7:38 pm to LSUaFOOL
All of the cell providers suck! I’m in a place out in West TX right now where only AT&T has service. No other provider works. This is a popular vacation destination with lots of people, which is all the more frustrating.
But, next month I’ll be in a place where only Verizon and T-Mobile have service, not AT&T.
My solution: I have both AT&T and Verizon service on my iPhone which results in about 95% coverage. And when I don’t have both, the other line shares the active line - right now my Verizon line is using the cellular data on the 5G AT&T line and I’m getting calls like I have real service.

I’m confused… because I remember the media and Facebook experts telling me that Texas is the only state with a shitty grid, and demanding that we interconnect with everyone else so the rest of the country could save us.
Maybe I heard that wrong.

If you’re not ordering your shite online and having it wheeled out to your automobile, you need to find another board. That ain’t the OT way.

I worked in a plant near Houston for a number of years and some knucklehead started shitting in the urinals a couple of times each week. Site never found a pattern for the day or which urinal was used.
Walk in to take a piss and you were greeted with a long brown snake curled up on top of the piss cake.
Toilets were open, stocked, and clean - this MF just preferred to shite in the urinal… or maybe to carry the turd over to the urinal - either way, still nasty.
When I left they were still trying to figure out who it was. Plant manager would try and sneak in multiple times each day to catch someone in the act. Offered up a $200 gift card to whomever ratted the guy out.

What do you consider an uptick? And brute force against what service?
I’ve got a fleet of *nix servers that for one reason or another run with SSH open to the world. Within an hour of standing up a new instance we have IPs from all over trying to break in. It’s especially bad on our foreign net blocks. We just let fail2ban block them one-by-one.
But I wouldn’t say we’ve had an uptick… it’s pretty much an around the clock problem.

I go with the wife to some local nail shop once a month. Saves me from bending my fat arse over to clip my toenails.
$75 for the both of us, I just make it $100 and call it good.

What kind of shitty jobs are you people applying for? Every one of my employers (3 in 20 years) did full background checks on all employees.
When I hired on, I had to submit to a social media check, educational check (submit transcripts and degrees - and they still called each of the schools), certification check (submit certificate - and they still called the agency), credit check, multi-state background check, reference check, and previous employment check.
I remember one of the companies that did the work was HireRight.

I have had luck addressing difficult issues with AT&T and T-Mobile by filing a BBB complaint.
For both carriers, within 24 hours of filing, I had someone from the Executive VP office call me. Maybe they were… maybe they weren’t… but they sure had power to negotiate down to penny’s on the dollar in one case, and pull a rabbit out of there arse on another. And was always asked if I could promptly resolve the claim.
Not sure if that helps, but it’s free to try.

Got an e-mail from my lawn guy this morning informing me of a 15% increase in his monthly bill due to the rising costs of fuel and service costs. Bummer.
He also just bought a brand new F-350 Platinum and paint matched trailer.
But it’s still worth every penny!

I did score business class, so maybe I’ll just drink until I can’t feel it.

I’m in Scotland right now. Tomorrow I’ll fly from Scotland to Heathrow, then Heathrow to Naples. Hoping this weather dies down before our early AM flight.

Because if I had to walk to school uphill both ways, in the snow, these little shits today can ride the bus so I can stay toasty in the house. That’s why.

I don’t know the guy, but physically… sure, I would expect a coach to handle business.
Had he whipped them though, every single one of them would have become saints and the world would be crying. He’d be facing charges, lawsuits, death threats, and most certainly, a future of never being able to coach again.
