Gotta love New Orleans.
Should have just placed the new terminal in St. Charles Parish while removing the City of New Orleans' say in the matter. The project would have already been completed correctly.

He's a journalist for the Hayride, is he supposed to know a lot about aviation?
I'd expect some basic principles of airports and a little background research to understand the comparisons he uses.
But it is the hayride... I suspect he spent as much time figuring out how to work in a monument removal jab in the article as he did researching.

Yeah that wasn't serious... it's also way down at the end so wouldn't be much shorter than just going around the runway.
And who knows if it could even handle buses.

Oh, you mean the swamp access hatch.

Amazing, New Orleans and Louisiana all of a sudden has to deal with the issues New York, Houston, Chicago, Boston etc etc etc have been dealing with for decades and all they do is whine. it is like listening to people complain about traffic. Try a rush hour in Altanta, Boston, Baltimore, Philly etc and get back to me. Typical complain first mentality. People have been moaning about how the airport has to expand for decades - they begin the process and people complain about that. They complete a phase and people complain about that.

I fly in and out of BR all the time and love it. Pull up park and 45 minutes later I’m in the air. Land and 10 minutes later I’m in my car heading home. frick MSY.

They completed the phase out of order. You can't be serious.

Is it really an expansion if the new airport has less gates for airplanes?

and the new terminal opens in May.
I spoke to a friend of mine who is one of the GC Project Managers and he said he doesn't think the new terminal will open in May due to the numerous GC involved in the project and the lack of coordination between them. They need to just prolong this cluster of a project and push it back as far as possible.

I don’t think anyone is complaining that they are expanding the airport. I think people are pissed that they are expanding the airport with no way to easily access it for 4 years.
Why wasn’t that done first/or at least the same time, instead of being done AFTER the terminal was completed

This thread is clearly over your head

the new terminal will have a single TSA screening station as opposed to 3.
Ugh. I get spoiled by DFW with so many checkpoints. I hate places like Love or Hobby with one big one.
I agree. Love can get horribly backed up. Only "best" *wink*wink solution is giving the govt or some govt approved "private" company way more personal info than should be needed to fly.
DFW does suck on super early flights when they dont have all checkpoints open. Would be good to know outside somehow to know which gate to get dropped off at.

X10000 everyone knows this is just the First Phase of the New Airport because it is already undersized. I've heard Southwest may stay at the Old Terminal and just use the D Concourse due to the lack of terminals at the new airport until the second phase is built in 2030-2035.

I know alot on this board disagree, but I have no clue why a new airport was needed
I loved flying out of Nola. Easy access, no long security lines, easy to get to and from gate
The old airport is an outdated POS. Its kind of an embarrassment to be honest. And the airlines are pushing for the new airport. The way gates are set up now and all that are significantly more efficient. They will be able to do more flights more efficiently. Once you get to the airport, it will be a better experience for everyone.
However...not planning for the infrastructure is a total disaster. I have a friend that works for an air cargo company (and he is pretty high up in the company), and he is telling me that they still don't know how THEY are going to handle things, let alone the general public. Total shitshow.

If in doubt, go to terminal D and take Skylink to your terminal if necessary

I do the same thing right now at MSY only I arrive less than 30 minutes before boarding time and never miss a flight.
