For us Northshore residents this new terminal with crap access makes flying out of Gulfport a lot more appealing.

I think BR would would love to show off the Exxon Plant to tourists who wouldn't ordinarily see such a massive Green Energy producing plant. It would certainly help quiet down those OccupyBR folks who want to replace the Exxon Plant with a Hemp manufacturing facility.

It's okay. State taxpayers in Shreveport, Monroe, and Lake Chuck will be paying to build a new interchange so that people east of the airport can get to the terminal faster.

I kind of wish that they'd shut down BTR and open a new airport between Baton Rouge and Hammond south of I-12. Maybe in the Satsuma/Walker area?

An MSY Official who is actively involved in the project. He also said the restaurant concessions work is a total clusterfrick since one GC took up more space than they needed and some of the restaurants are now realizing they will have quote unquote "micro kitchens" which won't be able to service large crowds.

Saw a video a while back that showed the common TSA screening area. It was 50 yards wide and has 17 lines available. It was a big wide open area that once you passed through you went down some stairs to the different terminals. In theory it looked great but will probably be like Wal Mart, 50 registers with only 3 open at peak times.

Part of the issue with BR is that they have to do improvements to the local area due to noise restrictions if they expand.
My family has land in the flight path and before the last set of expansions, the airport had to pay to put in soundproofed windows, central air, etc, on the house because of the increased air traffic and movement of the runways out toward Plank heading into Baker.
Honestly, given the state of the ghettos in the general area of the airport, they’d probably be better off buying up properties as they go up for sale then using them as a buffer zone similar to Exxon’s main plant.
