Access to New Orleans Airport new terminal going to be a disaster.

Hayride article discussing the failings of planning for the new terminal
The current access surface streets aren’t ready, the interstate access won’t be ready for 4 years at the earliest, and the new terminal opens in May.
The opening of this terminal will be terrible. If Baton Rouge has any type of competent leadership they will take advantage and try to expand the local airport. But they don’t so they wont

The new road won’t be open for what, 2-3 years? It’s going to be a clusterfrick.

I’m flying out of MSY in the middle of April. Pretty cool to get to fly out of Mogadishu right before they close it.

Only in LA would they build the infrastructure after the airport. I assume this was nothing more than a rush job so they could get another superbowl bid
I'm sure space is more of an issue than anything else. For a regional airport, it's actually nice.

So is it really true you will have to take a shuttle to even get to the terminal?
How exactly will that work with both landing strips in the way?

Seems to be the theme of all southern LA govt threads. Should be something residents should look into changing. Just a thought...

So, you expect the BR airport to be able to get plans and construction for an expansion completed in 4 years to be able to take advantage of this?

Flew into MSY Sunday night. The terminal was barren and there was litter everywhere in the gates. Trashy people left their shite on the floor and trashy janitors at MSY don't do their jobs.

Well, it's probably smart just to fully immerse visitors into the NOLA vibe immediately upon arrival. No sense in dipping a toe in.

I loved flying out of Nola. Easy access, no long security lines, easy to get to and from gate

It's always been pretty clean to me. Last flew out of there on lundi gras at like 10 PM and it was pretty clean.

They can use the old tunnel.

There are no other cities in the U.S. that have the combination of geographical limitations, massive corruption, and crippling incompetence of New Orleans.
Sit back and enjoy the shite show.
