I absolutely never tip. They should incorporate that into the nightly rate. It’s not like they are making $3 per hour like a waiter.

If you aren’t sticking to one brand for the points you are doing it all wrong. As much as you stay, you could be doing two weeks in Tahiti at an over water bungalow with private whores every night all on points. Up your travel game Baw.

I’ve been living in hotels everyday going on 5 months now. Never knew anyone tipped housekeeping. I only get them to clean my rooms every couple of days so the other days they don’t have to clean it is tip enough.
And why don’t you pick one brand of hotel and stick with it? I’m racking up points at Hiltons.

No. I stay in multiple hotels on a weekly basis. I've never considered tipping the cleaning lady and I won't start now.

Just used AAdvantage miles (30k x 4) to get our tickets for our Puerto Vallarta vacay.
I generally arrive late where I'm going and don't schedule any meeting until just before lunch. When the maid knocks on the door, that's when I tip $5 for each day I'm staying. I usually get extra bottled water, chocolates and a nicely cleaned and serviced room.

As someone who spent about 120 days in hotels last year, question...why not pick a chain and stick with it?
I'm usually in a hotel 2-3 days a week so I never get housekeeping. I just request no service and get extra points.

I’ve never thought about tipping housekeeping before. Tipping in general is ridiculous to me. Usually I have to go get more towels or washcloths myself because they only provided 3 when there are always 4-5 of us in the room. At Marriott hotels they give you points for not using them so I do that. I don’t trust them as I have had shite stolen before. So maybe that’s why I don’t tip them.

Because most hotels offer lots of incentive / bonus rewards (2 stays earns a free night for example) that you won't be able to take advantage of if you just stick to 1 hotel.

I spent around 100 nights in hotels last year. If it's just one night stay I'll leave $2 or $3.
If it's a longer stay or a hotel I know I'm going to be at soon or frequently I'll tip housekeeping more. They do work hard and don't get paid very much.
Front desk people and bell hops can take care of you and a tip to them can go a long way.

Same. I use a Do Not Disturb sign most of the time, so the only cleaning they're really doing is the switch over from me to someone else.

Diamond status with Hilton gets you an extra 50% on points earned. If I switched to another brand it’d be months before I could get the 50% bonus.
