The violent crime in DC is off the charts and always has been. Unprovoked violence is part of the culture in DC and Baltimore.

I used to live a block from where this shooting happened and it's not a bad area.
There are absolutely parts of the city I would not hang out in though, just like in every major city

Honestly if you or someone you are helping has been stabbed or shot it’s probably best case to put them in a vehicle and drive to the hospital as fast as possible. Can always tell EMS where you are for a transfer if needed. But start heading in the right direction if possible.
