That's a little too much nanny state for me. What does the OT think?

I think if that were the case, I wouldn't have made it to mine.

Are they gonna serve alcohol at the place of the event or something?

Ultimately, it seems a bit intrusive. Seems like it's only going to cause headaches. Drinking a bit before Sr prom is ancient.

HOWEVER, in today's uber-litigious society, I can see a school being concerned about being sued if someone drinks and drives or gets into trouble (or heaven forbid..dies) and then the parents coming after the school since that's where the kid was drinking.

But yeah, bottom line it just seems unnecessary. Let the kids have fun.

My school never did while I was there, but I remember other schools doing that 10-15 years ago.

What's wrong with kids today? Who gets drunk before or during the prom? Back in my day we got drunk at the after party like the good lord intended.

My school didn't do it to everyone, but the test was definitely given if they had reason to believe you had been drinking. We had someone die in a drunk driving accident after homecoming one year and they really tightened up on the rules.

seems like a pain in the arse to administer, but i'm fine with it. either skip it, or just drink after.
