A US Navy P-8A Poseidon, an anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare aircraft, flying over the Mediterranean Sea on Wednesday was intercepted by a Russian Su-35 fighter jet, the Navy said.

"The interaction was determined to be unsafe due to the SU-35 conducting a high-speed, inverted maneuver, 25 ft. directly in front of the mission aircraft, which put our pilots and crew at risk," the Navy said.

The Navy said the crew of the P-8A Poseidon experienced "wake turbulence" during the 42-minute encounter.

Keeping public relations and was inverted in a reverse dive, was he?

I wonder if there was a Polaroid to prove it?

Much like people not chipping in for gin and juice at the party, this type of shite happens all the time. Most of this crap is not a threat. The real threat is those hyper sonic missiles that sea whizz can only take about 3 or 4 down. So at $50 million a piece someone can knock out a carrier for a couple hundred million if we are not prepared.

That was some really, really bad command decisions right there.

My guess is the guys in the picture would have rather fought. Although they are Navy so maybe not.

Likely the most alpha head of state in the modern age. It’s a shame Trump cannot flex legally like Putin can.

I'm willing to bet it was on a surveillance mission and the Russians knew it and wanted to eff with them a bit. It's literally a friggin 737 and wasn't any real danger other than a freak accident. Us acting all butthurt over it is stupid. We patrol and surveil all the world and sometimes it makes us encounter others. BZ to the Russian pilots on their move and having fun.
